Greetings. My '08 was stolen June 2nd, and Allstate finally determined it was stolen July 28th. I'm STILL waiting to find out how bad they're going to screw me on the settlement. Is this a normal amount of time for a theft claim? I was hit by an uninsured driver in my car a few years ago and they were pretty good about that one, but I understand theft is a different matter. Either way it sucks, I've lost a whole summer of riding, and may not even be able to afford another bike!

I had my zx10 stolen with coverage from 21 Century. They MADE me wait 30 f'ing days. Said it was policy. Then, to top it off they did not even pay the note off. My first and only experience with a stolen vehicle. Anything else that I had full coverage on and was in accident, they paid off note. Was told yada yada yada as to why they were not going to. I myself thought that was the point in having comprehensive coverage. Oh well. I wish you luck.

Thanks for the replies. At this point it's been nine weeks and I feel completely jerked around. If another bike in my neighborhood wasn't stolen 3 weeks ago, they'd probably still be deciding on the claim. It shouldn't take nine weeks to read a police report(I can almost understand 30 days in the unlikely event it's found). It's been a week since they told me they would have a figure. Are they dragging this out as long as possible so the market value is lower?
I got a decent quote from Geico, anyone have any problems with them?

Try State Farm. I have been with State Farm for over 30 years. Home, cars, bikes, atvs, you name it.

State Farm is very reasonably priced (I found them $1100 / year cheaper than Geico) and they give excellant service.

State Farm has been great for me as well. And if they are 1100 cheaper than geico, then geico would be trying to charge me 1400 a year!

I bitched(again) at the local agent yesterday. I'll be picking up the check in a few hours. Bought the bike new last August, had 5500 miles on it, they're giving me $7500. $8500 market value minus $1000 deductible, which is what I was expecting. After I pick up the check it's off to the dealer to sign the check over for the 2010 I'm going to buy. It's going to cost me 4K out of pocket, which I can't afford, but I can't go another day without a 14.

You're a sucker if you pay $11,500.

They do take a minimum of 30 days. That's to give it time to see if it will be recovered.

I had my first bike stolen from me. They said 30 days, after about 25 days the police found my frame on a country road. This prolonged everything, ended up taking over 2 months and they didn't cover the note (by a lot). I had to make payments for nearly a year on a bike I didn't own anymore. (This was progressive, btw)
