Headed to the Gap next weekend...
10/05/12 7:19 PM

Well I have a tradition of taking all my bikes to the mountains and of course deals gap so they can earn their sticker. Any 14's want to come out and ride a little next weekend. I'll be there Friday and Saturday! Post up, would love to meet some fellow riders and raise a glass and hit some corners!

All packed and ready to go. Can't believe how much stuff I crammed into those 2 bags. I did make my packing a little easier by taking a lot of under armour style shirts and shorts. I'll wear my riding pants over the shorts. Saves a ton of room. They have better protection anyway. I even managed some cold weather gear as well. It's gonna be in the 50's at night so I'm ready for that too.

Here's my baby all packed and ready!

Looks good. We normally go to that area each spring. Always stay anywhere between Gatlinburg, Tn., and Maggie Valley. Have fun and be safe. BTW, I think you are being optomistic thinking that the lows at night will be in the lower 50's. Probably be more like the lower 40's. One of the guys that I ride with when we are there says that it has been in the upper 30's with frost allready. He lives closer to the Boone area. Not too far from the snake. If you are in that area, give it a try. I actually like the snake better than the dragon. Stay away from the Devils Triangle!. It is the worst road that I have ever been on. Broken pavement, coal trucks, stills, and curves that will make you crap your pants. Did it once, never again.

Where are you riding from Phantom? I rode up there last Saturday and it was beautiful. The leaves are changing (and falling on the roads!!) and the air is brisk. It is getting cool at night though (low 40's).

I ride up from Atlanta and cross Blood Mountain (rte. 129) over to Blairsville, Ga., and then into North Carolina. It's a 400 mile day trip for me and I'm completely whipped when I get home. But,,, well worth the aches and pains.

That's exactly where I'm headed. Coming up from Tampa. I'm in Perry now getting some coffee and trying to keep warm. I've seen 53 on the temp gauge so far. Got ALL the cold gear on LOL

I hope you have a great time. It's raining up there at the moment but that should all be gone by noon. Hopefully you'll blow through Atlanta before the morning rush.

Be Safe!!

Had an awesome weekend of riding. Went to Octoberfest in Helen, made some runs up and down blood mountain and hot deals gap and some of my favorite roads. I'll try and get some pics posted. Headed home in the morning. The 14 performed great. I punished it pretty damn good flogging through the corners and it handled brilliantly. I past several sport bikes in the corners and they seemed a little surprised to see the big beast leaving them.

Watch out for the po-lice. When my mc was there a month ago, it was radar city.
