MPH per 1000 RPM's?
04/29/15 7:24 AM

Sold the 07 ZX14 and just started riding a 2012 ZX14r. I have to agree with others who have said it's a better bike in many respects but I noticed it seems to be geared tighter. With stock gearing and a standard 50 profile rear tire, how any RPM's do your 14r's turn at 60 mph and 80 mph n 6th gear? I'm reading 3200@60 and 4300@80. My other ZX turned 3000@60 and 4000@80. If this is true, there is more of a change than 1 tooth more on the rear sprocket of the r model. Thoughts?

My guess is the difference in speedo error. I tested my 14R at indicated 70 and 85, and it was 3 mph high at both those speeds. Your Gen 1 14 was probably around 7% off. The RPMs you listed seem what mine does with stock gearing too.

Thanks guys...just seems strange but the speedo error makes sense.
