hello from another newbie
05/10/12 2:26 AM

gday to all ,

im another new owner of the zx14 - 2009 model

just like to say hello to all, im from sydney australia.

I have a question for those in the know - my zx14 has a tendency to run fairly warm when in city traffic or anything below 80 k's - is this a usual thing for the zx? anything over 90k's it sits around the half way mark in the temo gauge , but as i stated earlier , anything below its rather warm - one digit in the temp gauge from the top - and sitting at traffic lights gives me some concerns. Im now if sitting to long turning the zx off as i dont want to come close to seeing the dreaded high temp being displayed. If its like this coming into winter , what the hell is it going to be like when i gets to our summer here in oz with temps over 30+ degrees.
Im not knew to high temp bikes in city traffic- i also own a Honda SP2 and that can run on the warm side in traffic, but nothing like this.

at what temp do the fans turn on automatically ?

Any advice is appreciated - thanks in advance

nicho

All the ZX14s run warm. Some people put a second fan in or Engine Ice. Just make sure that your fan is working, mine is on almost any time I am standing still, and it usually shows 4 bars while moving. No problems. So, relax.

just like maddevil said, they run warm. you can use some engine ice or water weter to bring nthe temp down a bit.
