Things I have noticed
06/17/17 6:25 PM

Bought my 2016 SE in September of 2016. The color got me, plus it was on sale.
I only got to put 1300 km's on it before storage. In that month before I did that I kept the power on low setting in getting used to it. KTRC on 3.
Now that riding season is in full swing: Full power setting..slight ignition ping in high gear and big throttle. Solution? Downshift.
Maintenance as in oil changes easier than old bike!! Mirrors? Not fond of them, get to see too much elbow. Typical on sportbikes.
Handling...really very good I find. Tweaked the front a bit but rear is near ideal. Squirting out of corners is unbelievable!
Cooling system..the fan kicks in at 95C..cools it quite nicely. Have never seen more than 98 in traffic. The Cox Radguard was fairly easy install...I did take off bodywork.
The brakes are VERY powerful!! Squeak like crazy at low speed..no shims on pads wonder if brembo sells them.
Comfort...more crouch than old bike, but pretty damned nice...especially at high speeds. LOL, Overall pretty damned nice.
German cars seem to always want to keep up......Good Luck!!
The things looks like a stealth fighter and well....it accelerates like one. HUGE grin factor!!!
Fuel gauge is not that accurate...have never even come close to putting 20 liters in(21 liter tank). Most was 17 liters
Anyway.....I love this bike. Very glad to own it. Glad I found this site to read all of your stories and tips etc.
Best accessory was an ABBA stand.....Love it!!

My bike had what I thought was some pinging the first couple thousand miles. Seemed like there was a lot of sensitively to fuel brands and even station... don't ask me but I would get less ping filling up at one certains station. This was before I started running E0 though. Any pining subsided after a couple thousand miles, no matter where I get gas (although I do always run premium). Also migth be some CCT rattle... lol once in a while you might think you're engine might throw a rod or spin a bearing...it's just the CC/T. I mean - your engine might actually throw a rod or spin a bearing, but most likely it's just that system.

About all your points, I would say that's my general finding. Assuming you have OE rubber on there, wait until you put some good tires on there as far as cornering and what not. I don't have Brembos, but even the Nissins are fantastic IMO. A great blend of power and feel, I can be very confident in what's going to happen when I squeease the lever. Rear brake is different story, but it is usable in some cases just have to be very careful.

Talk to Romans about ignition. The Gen 1 is too advanced stock I believe he was saying. People think it's better for performance to advance more but they're already playing with fire..I don't know what they did with timing on the Gen2.

Victhing.....I never ever use anything less than 91 octane. Same as old bike.
Rook...I have seen the postings etc on flashing the ECU..that may happen one day if I go with exhausts. Cannot see that happening for a while though. The systems for this bike are way expensive!!

Hey guys,
I wonder if there is a difference of fuel ratings between our countries. Most stations here have 91 as premium. Sometimes you can find 94 usually called Ultra?
So yes I do run premium.....

Different geographical regions (possibly continent, country, etc.) use different calculations to derive octane rating. There's some conversion charts on the net, but for example 98 in some country (might be) equivalent to 93 in the USA. It's just the equation, the actual fuel itself has the same anti-knock abilty... it's literally just the calculation.

I blieve Canada uses the same octane ratings as the US, at which I think anything 91 or above is considered premium.

Again for specifics please do a quick duckduckgo search. I dont't care enough to look up the exact numbers/equivalencies.

Ford btw, I wasn't sure I understood your reply to me since I said nothing about octane at all pertaining to you. I made a comment about octane so that anyone reading that would know I was always running high octane so that definitely, in and of itself, wasn't the cause of the pinging.

Hey look at like this, at least people here aren't blowing you shit over your brake squealing comments like they did me. Jumping Johosehpat you'd thought I'd buried some of their pets with their head sticking out of the ground and ran them over with a lawn mower. If you want to get rid of the brake sqheal, you're going to have to use the brakes aggressively pretty fequently and repeatadly. Find somewhere you can ride (maybe a commercial area) and do a few "laps" where you're really using the brakes hard. They'll stop squealing as long as you do that every couple rides (or whatever the point is you start hearing low speed squeal).

The 95 requirement is RON (Research octane). What's on the pump is RON + MON (Motor octane)/2. 91 under that rating is fine. You shouldn't be giving it big welly with 2000 rpm on the clock; it's not a diesel.

Agreed about the bike being a diesel. Just an FYI, in my case specifically, my engine appeared to have an off idle knock for example acceleratign from a stop light. Very breif, almost unnoticable. I've dealt with pre-det and other ignition issues in the past, anything worse than what I'm 99% what I did and she would've been at the dealer.

She'll pull you out in 6th from 2k but I wouldn't make any habit whatsoever of making her do that.
