I haven't seen any threads on this. Was thinking about doing the Mojave Mile next year and they require motorcycles to have them. Anybody here have one on their bike and what kind? I think this could be fun.

Personally, I like Scotts dampers. I've put one on nearly every bike I've owned. The mount for the zx14, however, requires that you drill and tap into the frame/airbox. So not as simple to mount up as some others, being that you need to pull some sh*t apart and get those shavings outta there before you ride after the install.
Not a lot of guys putting dampers on 14's, though... That is for street duty.

Brock makes an adapter that allows for installation of an Ohlins tube damper. the damper is expensive but I like the look of a tube damper. Always hear good stuff about the Scott's damper too.

..and that Scott's looks mighty cool there, Dogo--especially with the aftermarket suspension adjusters. You'll have to do the new 14 the same.
BTW, has anyone ever actually had a scary wobble happen with the 14? Most I have ever had was a single whip afetr hitting a bump in a hard lean or after touch down from a low power wheelie.

Thanks for your input guys. I have ohlins on my other bikes and they work great. How close is the scotts damper to the ignition key? Saw an article where they had to trim a key because it was so close to the ignition. Yeah this bike is stable as hell. The damper is required to do the mile run. Thanks again.

Plenty of room on the 14. I did have to trim the key on my '05 zx10r after installing a Scotts damper.

New 14 is definitely getting a Scotts... infact working on getting my old one back. Gave it to a buddy that still, after more than a year, hasn't bothered to order the mount for his bike. I think he needs to give it back!
Those preload adjusters were actually for a 10r. Had to be trimmed a bit to work on the 14. I think the guy that bought my old forks still just has them sitting in his garage. May give him a call and see if I can get the adjusters from him. Be pretty cool to get a few of the parts from my old 14 on the new one.

I like the Scotts, but I wouldn't be able to get myself to drill holes in the frame. Just the way I am.
OOP-- forgot about the drilling. Yeah, I avoid any permanent changes to the bikes, too.
Snuffy, to create a link, there is an icon that looks like a paper scroll with blue marks that look like this <>. This icon is in the menue bar above the response box where you type your reply. click it and you will get code and /code tags in your reply.
Copy the url and paste it in between the tags. Done
Or else you can use the icon that looks like chain links. Its next to the open suitcase icon in the menu bar.
Click the icon, paste your url into the box that comes up, hit okay and then you can name your link anything you want by typing it in the area that says "your text to link here".
Think we'll call this one Snuffy's Schnitz damper link
Snuffy's Schnitz damper
voila

GPR dampers are on sale at hardracing.com. The V1 is only $319. I don't think there is any drilling required to mount their damper. I've never owned a GPR, but have known a few guys that have. They liked 'em.

Never thought about the ZX-14 not coming with a damper as a stock item.
Not totally unusual I guess.. R6 doesn't have one either.

I've owned 4 different GPR V4's. I think there product is excellent. I had the first 2 weep oil at the o-ring, but, in the winter, sent them in to be serviced, and for the price of shipping, (around $8) GPR completely serviced the unit. There customer service is top notch. There is no drilling on the 14 install. If you just putt around or sport cruise, I don't think the 14 needs a damper, as the 14 is solid but, if you ride it like a liter bike alot or from time to time, it does it's job well. You guy's know what it feels like to be driving hard out of a corner WFO/OTG, front wheel lofts, sets back down just a little crossed up...... Your damper WILL save your ass. Your milage may vary.
