Brock's vs. Hindle???
05/13/09 9:50 AM

So besides map support, customer service, and a name plate, is there a difference between Brock's Generation 3 StreetSmart exhaust header and the Hindle Race (step) exhaust header? If so, what is the difference?

I always assumed they were the same, however, Brock's site says:

"Please note: Due to a difference in pipe construction, the SHORTMEG™ Conversion system WILL NOT adapt to existing Generation 1 or 2 systems. Additionally, they are also incompatible with Standard or Race" (step) Hindle Exhausts.

What's the difference between the Hindle Standard vs. Race? Just 2" vs. 2.25" outlet or is there more?

Thanks for any help. I've been thinking about upgrading from my S/O's to a full system for a while now. I've been leaning towards a Brock's Generation 3 but have run across a deal on the Hindle Race that would be about half the cost.

Actually, I figured I had a better chance of getting a staight answer here.
Didn't figure anyone @ BL would admit they are the same. If they in fact are??? Still don't know???
Basically though, if they are the same, I could get the Hindle race header for less than $300 shipped. Even if I were to pay full price for a Brock's or Hindle pipe (about $500), it would still be a HUGE savings! I can just purchase the Brock's pipe online, but not the Hindle. I would have to have a retailer special order one for me.

I also came across a Hindle standard header with a Street Meg for $400 (new)!

And a TI Akra system for $1500!

Too many good deals right now. What to do, what to do???

I'm not worried about getting Brock's map support. I plan to install a PC5 and autotuner at the same time I do the exhaust swap.

i think this would be an excellent deal. it's a very close setup to my standard m10, and i'm very pleased with it. you didn't want to just contact brock himself like all the other brock's guys do? happy hunting dogo!

Didn't see a point in contacting Brock. He says right on his sight:

"Please note: Due to a difference in pipe construction, the SHORTMEG™ Conversion system WILL NOT adapt to existing Generation 1 or 2 systems. Additionally, they are also incompatible with Standard or Race" (step) Hindle Exhausts."

He has $$$ on the line though, so of course he is gonna say that!

I have been giving some real thought to the standard megaphone system. Even if I decided to "upgrade" it later, it would be tough to lose $$$ on the deal. Probably shipping costs at the most.

exactly, you might even make a little profit if you decide to sell it later.

Hey Bro, I have M4 GP style megaphone exhausts on my 08. It has really nice tones and the weight isn't that bad either. Everyone i meet say they look really nice on the bike and sound great when we're rolling down the street. The pricing on a full system isn't that bad either, just check out M4.com. Not telling you what to do just giving you other ideas. R.O.K. 4 Life!!!

Thanks for the advice.
I checked the M4 site and can only find the S/O's:
http://www.m4exhaust.com/products/flash/M4_Exhaust.html
Where did you see a system?
I've always liked the M4 cans.... but I already have a set of dual cannons!

It was just a joke. Bikeland has also been referred to as the "Temple of Brock's".
He's a forum sponsor and a lot of guys over there run his systems and maps.

I actually posted the same thing over there and the thread has recieved very little action and still no answer.

So what's a dog do... buy the standard and race Hindle's!
The standard system w/streetmeg is going on the bike right away. The race header is gonna get the bung, for a PC5, and I'll put it on when I get a pipe for it. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to check out a Brock's Gen3 in person and compare for myself.

Anyone runnin' the Brock's Gen3 here?
Mind posting some pics of the header and where the pipe meets it?

DogoZX,

I can’t be everywhere at once…that would be CREEPY!

I used to have to answer the Brock’s vs. Hindle question all of the time…..time made that go away (for the most part) as forum sites (like this one) started educating the general public. It helped also when the “they are the same” guys kept getting SPANKED by my guys on the street. Hindle is ONE of my manufacturers. I ask them to create systems to my specifications, and they build them. I have NO IDEA what else they build or market under their Hindle brand or for anyone else’s. I can tell you that I have exclusive rights to what I design and they have been fantastic over the years in adhering to my specifications and requests for exclusivity.

Here is some additional information: http://www.brockracing.com/map_incorrectexhaust.html

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Good Luck and GO FAST!

Thanks for coming over and attempting to answer my question.
I understand that Hindle is only one of your manufacturers, however, before the recent release of the C/T (which is sick btw) it looks to me like they were the only one building systems for the zx14 for you.

The stuff they sell under their name sure looks similar.

Ya, everyone should go read the original post in that thread. There are lots of wannabes in the street tuning world, and then there is Brock.

Talk is cheap, low ETs, world record top speeds, and dyno charts are facts.
