Jafo, you have over 40,000 miles on your 14. How many valve inspections have you done and how far out were they? I've got my first one due in 1500 miles.

hi kruz,
think it was around the 30000 mark, only 2 valves were out. as far as i remember they were inlets and they were out by very very small amount.
as the bike is up on the ramp for the next few weeks, if i get a chance i might check them again. its been running perfectly but i have all new galfer rotors going on, getting radiator fixed and hopefully suspension reworked, full service including plugs.
im looking forward to getting it back on the road, eventhough im enjoying the superduke, its the longest ive been without it since i picked it up in miami!

jafo - where in Ireland? I spent a lot of time around Limerick/Shannon.

I'm going to get mine done this winter I will have 16,000 miles on her by then this will be her 1st time.

@loadedmind. i live in dublin but have also lived in cork (south coast) and galway (west coast).
i also travel around the country alot both for work and on my bike!

24,000 here and still need to do this job. I'm picturing valve covers removed and I'm a little bit scared. Going to be a project that spans a few days for me on the first inspection. But you guys will be there to guide me through.

Buy a service manual, take your time and you'll be fine Rook. It's not rocket science but you do want to get it right.

The checking aint so bad, its the shim replacing thats a major pain
