Lowered front of my bike

Better visual for Hub on what I was talking about.
The risers had a extended portion that was the same diameter of the fork tube, and that went into the bar clamp end. Here you can see that riser before I machined it.

Here it is getting machined. I have to interpolate the radius .325 roughly. .200 above the surface and .125 below the surface.

Here it is machined.

Here is a 3/4 top view of it so you can see the raised portion compared to the machined one on the right hand side. Stock left hand, machined right hand.

Here is a side. Stock left, machined right.

Here is an internal view. Stock left, machined right. As you can see it would be a positive stop for the forks. They could not go through the entire riser. Now they can.

Here it is with the stock fork height from the factory with the risers on and the bar end clamps on.

Here is after view with forks raised .835 up the triple tree.

I figured under 1" is good enough for now until I get the oil pan modded. But I don't want to mod my oil pan thats on the bike, I am trying to find a good used one. Or atleast one I can get dimensions off of to prototype out a new pan.

Its 50 degrees out and getting colder. So I only went for a short test spin. I also loaded a map from Roman. It was just too cold/damp out and the tire spun and I said go home..... I am cold. So I didnt really test it out.

I ll let you guys know how it runs.

really cool, Todd. Looks like you have the xpertise to handle this stuff on your own but if you want to pay someone else to do the work, Schnitz will chop the belly off your OEM oil pan and weld it up flat. That will protect your engine but the headers are still vulnerable--at least on an aftermarket full system. Better the headers than the motor though.

Another thing you can do is cut off the shield that sticks down to protect the drain plug and install a flushmount plug that has an allen hex. Saw those plugs so I'm sure you could Google it to find a seller.

Thank you Rook.

I just need good pictures of the oil pan to mod one, or I ll just machine a complete new one. I might go that route since it would be a fun project. Probably cost more than its worth or could buy, but atleast it would be mine! Maybe I ll make a winged one or something to hold alittle more oil!

Really cool! I envy you machinist guys so much. Just a thought from a novice, seems like you would be taking a chance making an oil pan with side chambers to hold more oil. I here there is an oil starvation risk from crankshaft windage with the OEM oil pan ...if you do long wheelies, that is. What I'm envisioning with a winged low profile oil pan seems like it might cause all kinds of weird swirling of oil at high rpm. What do you think?

here's a pic of Schnitz's low profile pan. you can zoom in on the page.

It looks simple enough. I would want to see the inside area too. Is there any baffling or what not that is removed with their mod? Making a pan like the Adams pan wouldnt be that hard either.

But I would be curious to how the bottom of the engine and the stock oil pan looks. Having to relocate the oil filter could be a pain. But maybe a more stock like pan that keeps the oil filter..... well for $150 I know that I couldn't make a pan for that cheap that would be that custom. But I could definitely modify my pan in a similar fashion. I'd be curious to see a stock pan in person to see what could be done to it.

IDK?? You'd only be able to tell by taking off your oil pan. You could also call and ask Schnitz.

Making a pan like the Adams pan wouldnt be that hard either.

I saw that and to me it seemed like a mostly solid block of aluminum. I think that's gonna add weight but if clearnce is your main concern, that's the thing.

Having to relocate the oil filter could be a pain.

There is a bolt-on bracket to relocate the filter. It's in the ad for the pan.

IDK if you need to drill anything to make bolt holes for the bracket. I imagine you do.

I got my lowprofile drain plug from NAPA. It was like 2 bucks.
