Ohlins
03/23/12 3:45 AM

Does anyone know if these will fit the 2012 model bike?

Ohlins 20mm SUPERSPORT FORK VALVE KIT
"Compression & Rebound Valves"
(For use with STOCK FORKS)

Spoke to Hardracing today & they are not sure.
Has anyone tried these in earlier models? are they any good?

Update.
Just ordered some of these along with some 1.1Nmm front springs, so will post some pics when they arrive. & are fitted.

Hi!

Any news on this? finally fitted?
I'm also considering the purchase of Ohlis set:
- S46HRCLS
- fork springs
- fork valve kit
and wonder if it's worth the money.. and second issue - is hardracing highly recommended? as far as I can take a chance of buying something useless (valve kit), but it would be nice to get a fully functional stuff (rather no returning options for small service fixes)...
so, can someone confirm my purchase it's something really worth improvement? and guys from hardracing.com are trustworthy?

Regards,

Daniel

Daniel there is another post around here re these items. This suspension will transform your bike handling, well worth the money imho.
Hardracing are very trustworthy, I ended up using a Penske 8983 rear shock that was resprung for my weight, a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, does the job!

ok, thank you guys.. I'll buy this ohli set for my bike, cause the price diff compared with the Penske is too small to think about it ($100-200), in particular when I need external preload adjuster (frequently shift 240/440lbs).

another thing- what's your opinion on the comparison: linear vs progressive springs?

Progressive springs have a problem with dampening as the spring has different amounts of energy at different stages.
I have always stayed away from these but that is my opinion, I am fairly sure Ohlins don't have any progressive springs.
I don't think Ohlins make much in the way of different springs for the ZX14 which is why I had to purchase the Racetech springs.

Unfortunately, it's the old one... The factory is using TTX series, that I only saw offered in Japan - http://ohlins.czj.jp/moto/Item/KA128.html

I've bought mine on Hardracing.com .

This is the designation of the ttx shock from Ohlins T39PR1C1S or KA 128.
Its interesting this part # also shows up as for the BMW R1200GS 04-12

More info.

? TYPE: T39PR1C1S
? Shock length: 402.5mm
? Stroke amount: 75mm
? spring rate: 130N/mm
? Spring length: 240mm
? Standard Preload amount: 17mm
? pressure side adjustment effective number of stages: twin tube built-in stage 20 ? ? 39mm diameter piston, adopted the TTX mechanism: 20 stage ? rebound adjustment effective number of stages .
Description of item
? pressure side damping force adjustment mechanism, rebound damping force adjustment mechanism: pressure side by TTX mechanism of its own, the extension side fully independent. There is no impact to the other when you adjust one side. Setting speed has been improved dramatically by this. The dial of both are aggregated to the cylinder head base, operation is now much easier as compared to the genuine shock.
? twin-tube structure (TTX): It uses a twin-tube structure using a 39mm diameter solid piston that matches the large vehicles. I will show the damping force characteristics stable always pressure excellent balance.
? hose formula preload adjuster: spring pre-load adjuster remote expressions that are newly designed in accordance with the cylinder diameter. By turning the remote dial-in ahead of the hose, you can easily adjustable preload smooth stepless do not use tools.
? Built-end bearing eye: I have a built-in roller bearings inside. To eliminate the friction loss of the mounting portion that occurs at the time of suspension stroke.

Absolutely top quality stuff. Isolation of the damping and compression forces and how that affects the movement of the oil through the shock 'stroke'. Giving a more 'pure' feel to the back end as it moves through its stroke, smooth, and yet capable of smoothly dampening the harshest bumps or the smoothest ripple.
COMPLIANCE AND PERFORMANCE.

That is what I get from ur tech notes there.

Dangit. Now I NEED one if those frickin shocks...
