Jeeze H how does this thing burn into LA? I hope you're by the coast Hub. Come on over here to Michigan where we have no natural disaster except winter every damn year. You survive winter in the UP of Michigan, you can survive anything.

I got a bad feeling about this, Hub normally responds pretty quickly.
I think he's OK but may have had to evacuate and has no access to his computer.
Of course I could also be full of it....

Thanks guys... I'm way far away from the fires. Sad they are saying thousands of homes and buildings charred to the ground. For it to burn in heavy neighborhoods like Hollywood, or the coast near PCH is an eye opener. Hydrants empty out of a million gallons each for the 3 areas... Rebuilds are going to be years in the making.
Hear the water soaked land is now unstable to rebuild. Stuff like that.
The Santa Ana winds were brutal for those days. Had a fire (years ago) and watched it travel at my neighbor's backyard. You have no clue how fast the fire moves is to watch it. Chopper few over his backyard and nailed the fire like he had a scope.
Looked up, they warn you with a siren sound, a solute from the copilot/spotter(?) and the drop snuffed it out. I'll never forget that.

Dam Hubster, just glad you're OK, look's like it is burning up all the expensive areas of LA County! I watched a video last night, not making this stuff up, nice house is burning to the ground and firemen are using 5 gallon buckets to try and douse the flames, no water pressure at the hydrant, looked like an inferno. Some heads need to roll starting with Gruesome Newsom...

Yeah, me too. Neighbors took a weekend cruise, grabbed their newspapers and see 'over 6 thousand structures were involved in that inferno. Housing keeps building around me and where are they finding the water for this sun drenched area? This state is just plain crazy adding more structures for a fire.

I think I told the story before after hearing your's. My parents were burning brush at their getaway property back in the 90s. It was a small lake in the middle of nowhere. Mom let the fire burn up the hill and it got totally out of control despite all their efforts. Out of nowhere, a helicopter shows up and drenches out the fire. LOL I'm sure that cost whatever county a few bucks but Mom and Dad weren't fined a penny. Pretty sure that was the last time they ever burned brush at the lake though.
I'm glad your safe Hub. I'd be glad if you'd move over here where there's no earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes or fires. The only thing, you have to be able to survive the winters and watch out for deer year round.

Rook, I'll take my chances here, thank you. Those snow shoveling days are over for me. Besides, I ride more than using a vehicle. Using the vehicle is for cat food runs... LOL.

You'd like Austin Hub, similar climate to LA with lots of hill country riding but it's getting over run by California transplants and getting weird....and expensive! All that Cali crazy money is driving real estate prices here through the roof. I was watching a video last night of some of the multi-million dollar LA homes that went up in smoke, those same homes here would be a fraction of that cost, maybe $450-500K tops.

Texas is trying to send fire fighters to LA to help but they have been turned back due to lack of DEI and sensitivity training. Ideal fire fighter profile in LA County is a 110 lb LGBTQ female of mixed Asian/Middle Eastern/African descent, no burly white guys need apply....

LOL
Well, first time I'm without E for 3 long days. Usually it's less than a day. Brutal winds going thru my backyard. Chasing cushions all over the yard.
Neighbor offered his generator for my fridge, but I passed. Going to toss it all. Figured even at today's prices for food, it will be way less than buying a new generator. Besides, I have years of frozen stuff that no longer tastes like chicken, so good riddance.
Kruz, I'm going to Austin for the GP race. Maybe my 3rd or 4th one? Every time from the hotels to the track, it's been a two lane road with long traffic lights. Can't split lanes on a 2 lane, don't see too many curves. I'll pass thanks.

Hub, head out West into the Texas Hill Country towards Boerne and Marble Falls, fantastic riding on the Twisted Sisters.
