Check these guys out:

Flash-Tune Inc

"This is flashing the way it should be... This is tuning the way it should be."

Ain't that the truth!

$150 for a flash... $350 for an interface!

They even offer ECU based quickshifter kits for Yami's.

Nothing for us, yet... But I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They are apparently working on Kaws as we speeak.

01/28/12 - Today our prototype 07-08 Kawasaki zx6r equipped with a full Akrapovic exhaust gained 11 rear wheel horsepower with our ECU flashing services. We will be prototyping Kawasaki models all winter!

Nah... zx14 gains will be this:

ECUnleashed flash

Difference?... $150 vs $350 for flash... or hopefully for $350 full control and no more piggys needed.

You mean you could do WOT, clutchless shifts just by flashing and w/o adding a shifter?

This Quick Shifter kit when used in conjunction with our Flashing Services or Flashing Interface allows for smooth clutch-less up shifting without any add-on modules.
You no longer need an ignition module or standalone quick shifter system!

Our shift kits are machined from only the highest grade materials and MADE IN THE USA!

Ok, but most of you (me included) won't ever make good use of this tool. Not for a ZX14. For sure for a ZX6 being track raced. Or a ZX10R.

You can go to Guhl, and get the same thing done. Same or better HP increase. Secondaries pegged open 90%+ of the time.

The thing is, for almost all of us, once this done, it never needs to be done again. So owning the equipment is.... a waste if you don't have a good ongoing use for it.

Example, my ZX14 is not going to change anymore in anyway that would require a new map for the piggy. So once it goes to Guhl in the spring, and he does a few dyno pulls and then flashes the tuned map along with the secondary/speed/revs/ignition changes into my ECU, it won't have to change ever again.

If its right, it will stay right until you change something serious in the engine. Which most of us won't do.

Nice toy? Sure!

Regarding Quick Shifting .... hmmm you have to buy a shift kit? Thought it was all in the ECU? I don't think a ZX14 ECU can quick shift clutchless without external shift equipment, can it?

True... but these guys charge $200 less for the same service.

You don't need an IM (PC) or a standalone (tap the coils)... You do still need a sensor, but (from what I can tell) their harness just plugs into the ECU.

I just ordered a quickshifter. It is a standalone. If it malfunctions it is easy to track down the problem. Oh well, I did say I like my piggies, didn't I ? Here piggy, piggy?

There's a thread HERE, on the local forum, started by a guy who purshased the interface for his R1... He can now flash any 06+ R6 and 07/08 R1. Seriously cool stuff.

The OP mentions that he is going to have a local tuner (Nels) now do a custom tune. Nels is the same guy that flashed my ECU. He paid $5000 for his "flash box"!... And does not have the ability to customize the ECU in the same way as with the FlashTune. He told ECUnleashed what we decided to change in my ECU. ECUnleashed then sent him the file to be flashed into my ECU... Then he fine tuned my mapping with my PC5... FlashTune is next level, IMO... Factory race kit ECU's run $1000k plus... Guhl charges $900 for their version... FlashTune is $350!

I've noticed a few new members lately that either own, or are coming from, R1's... Any tried FlashTune or have the 411 from the R1 forums?

Their race kit ECU w/ flash cable:

Honestly, don't even know for sure if they have actually made it available yet... Was lotsa talk about it on 10r.net, but never heard from someone who actually purchased it. Most just do/did a flash... All the guys, I know of, that needed/wanted a kit ECU (customer rewritable) have gone with the factory kit... Who needs lights and a fan on a racebike right.
