silver wheels question
04/27/10 11:41 AM

I have the mustard brown wheels on my 06 and want to upgrade to the newer silver look. Are the newer silver wheels painted silver with a clear coat or are they bare metal with a clear coat?

I can remove my wheels and strip them but I got a bad feeling that unless I'm out there constantly polishing them they are not going to look right. I could get them painted silver and clear-coated with Imron but by that time it may be cheaper to just get a set of nice silver wheels from corybusa @ about $500.

Anyone gone through this experience?

Jesse

Silver painted with a nice thick clear on it. I have been smearing grease on the chain and it peppers off on the rim. When I am ready to regrease the chain, I can wipe off the dry grease and she looks brand new again. I use brake clean only and a paper towel on the wheel cleaning.

I have two sets of silver, but I'm in the process if wrecking the finish on a set of my extra pair of silver wheels. Bought a silver tank and am in the process of wrecking that too.
