Back at it 200 MPH!
11/27/12 3:45 AM

Well the registration just opened up again for the Top Speed event at Loring Air Force base in Maine and I signed up as soon as I saw it had opened! I have to make my goal this year! I’m not going to let her fall short because of a head wind this year! I’m going to bring back up. I’m going to install a 30HP shot just in case I get to 190 and she starts running out of steam….

Thanks Rook! I'm thinking I'll order the kit this weekend and start coming up with a game plan. It's gotton to cold to ride so I might as well pull her apart. I'm going to go with a muzzy spray bar so its sprays evenly to each cylinder. The NOS is just more of an insurance plan in case she starts pausing at the top again. I know she will do it the way she is but if we have a head wind like last time I don't want to drive up 9 hours one way to fall short of my goal......

Why not a 50 shot? Costs about the same, same installation? You can regulate the amount of N2O if you don't want a full dose, right?

My thinking is why not go with the biggest NOS you can safely use without needing the engine beefed up (unless you want to do engine work too).

I hear you.....I don't even really want to spray her but if I need it to get there I'm gonna use it. I think a 30 shot is more than enough. Last year a guy hit 201 with the same basic mods I have but just caught a good tail wind....I don't want to keep spraying her. Its just for safety! LOL

Thats what you always hear but I recall one guy claiming he just sat there on the spray button for about a minute at top speed. I would need to really understand what I was doing before I would rely on it but with the progressive controllers that some install, I would have a lot more confidence. If you're ONLY going to use it at top speed, I would think you would be pretty safe from the things that can wrong with nitrous. .

I'm gonna run a second map off the PC and tie it in with the NOS solenoid so when I hit the Horn button it’s all business! LOL I don't want to hurt the motor or even take a chance that I could so that's why I was thinking 30 shot.

Well I ordered the Dyno Tune system. I like the (2) 1lbs bottles. I also went with the purge system. I'm also going to order a spray bar from Muzzy so the spray is evenly distributed. On the second map I'll set it up 20% richer and then bring it to the dyno to make sure she is running safe. Should be a real fun project.

Hey, lemme ask your opinion on something, somefun...you mentioned using the horn button to activate the spray. I have been planning to remove my horn to shed a little weight and of course, the wire will be what I hook my NOS system up to as well (if I get NOS some day soon).

The wire to the horn cannot be disconnected without cutting it. I'd like to get rid of as much wire as possible so I don't have a wad of wire hanging around down there but I want to leave enough wire to hook up to something like NOS. Where should I cut the horn wire?

Rook I haven't looked at the horn yet but I would cut it at the horn and just trim it back. Make sure you leave enough so you can hook it up to a NOS system and still be able to tuck it away.
