Tall Riders
05/08/13 8:31 PM

Hello All

I was looking at a 14R and have a couple of questions. I am 6' 5", 200lbs, size 13 boots.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how the bike is on a long day of riding for someone as tall as me. I am used to riding my Road King and just got an Ultra Limited for touring. I have ridden the 49 states on the Road King and would like to have a 14R for around the house and some touring.

I am just concerned about the riding position for someone as tall as me. What do you think?

Thanks

I am only 6'2" so I do not know the answer to your question. The following link may be of interest to you though.

Motorcycles are perfectly safe, as long as you don't fall off and you don't get hit by anything...

I'm 6'6" and 245lbs and have no problem riding this beast all day. That being said I was riding a 2008 Honda CBR 1000RR before the ZX14R and that was a little uncomfortable for me. There are a few mods you could do to drop the pegs and raise the handlebars, but for me there is no need. I say go for it, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the response guys.

From what I have been looking at the 14R is the most comfortable bike for tall people so it is the natural choice. Not to mention the awesome power.

I am the same size. The bike is alot more comfortable than i expected. I don't feel the need for lower pegs or risers. I almost want a lower seat, so i have more room to lean over the tank without my head being in the windscreen.

Throw a Connie Gel seat on your bike - Direct snap in. Lowers the height and comfy on the tushie

I'm 63 - 230lbs, my boy Dave is 6'4 200lbs, and we both fit with great comfort. You should be fine. That said my boy AJS introduced me to risers and gotta say they stretch the 14 into Cadillac comfort!
Cheers,
Wolf

Iron head, forgot to mention the Busa fits small. You have two choices, BMW s1300 (bit dated, ugly and will not near the performance dynamics of the 14). Get the 14 brotha!

As Wolfman said, I'm 6'4, 200lbs. Everybody experiences discomfort differently. Some will complain of back soreness, others of hands and wrists. At the end of a 600 mile day my legs start to feel a little sore. Zero back and wrist problems.

I say go for it. You will love the smooth motor and effortless power.

Sounds like the right bike for me.

Thanks for all the input.
