Leaving Bike Night...
04/18/13 11:54 PM

I stopped by Cycle Gear’s bike night this evening as they were having a sale on batteries and I needed one for my M109R. As I was leaving, two ‘Busas pulled in behind my bike. Not really blocking me but kind of in the way. They were definitely not being jerks. There was just not a lot of parking. When I got on, one of them asked me if I had enough room to get out. I said I wasn’t sure as this was my first week riding. Not only did he quickly move his bike, but so did the other guy and the guy in front of me pulled further forward. I backed out and as I started up, I overheard the girl, who is the manager, say to them, “He is full of $#!*. He’s been riding longer than I have been alive.”

Motorcycles are perfectly safe, as long as you don't fall off and you don't get hit by anything...

I picked up a couple hundred bucks of "ADV" type stuff (easy to do, huh?) at their shop today.

Funny thing is, I know it's the "no name" brand of stuff, but... it (a helmet for one thing) fit better than the rest of the stuff I tried: The Bilt fit me better than Shoei, Arai, O'Neal, and Fox (remember, Adv stuff...).

I mean, I was totally surprised. I *wanted* to buy a "good" name brand, and was prepared to drop some big bucks to do so. But, at the end of about an hour and a half of trying stuff on (and not just helemts), I had the conclusion: Tis stuff fits *me*, and the rest *dont*.

Gloves, shirts, helemts, I bought all Bilt, because it fit, simple as that.

...and the quality was good, too. Not the best, which was obvious from the side by side comparo, but OK, good enough.

...and a quarter of the price of "best". *That* was nice!

mebgardner, I feel the same way. Last Christmas I bought their Trackstar leather pants because no other leather pants I've tried (SEDICI, ICON, DAINESE) fit me as comfortable as Bilt did. Even though I like to buy mostly online, the advantage is that at Cycle Gear I can try on stuff before spending my money.

My BIlT boots are better constructed than the A*s I have had, both of which fell apart after less than 1 year.
