Answer yes to all these questions.
1. Does this sound more like cam chain noise?
2. Does it go away before literally 5 seconds or less?
3. Does the engine make the same noise hot when turned off and then back on after the doughnut and coffee run?
I think crud nailed it. Tow it, get it written up, dated it, mileage, etc. Field fix #1 on a revised cct that began in 2012 of the second gen engine. First one I've heard of... if that's it. That's why less damage towing if it's not! Still your bike. So with the morning noise being right there for them to order a new cct assembly and new oring don't forget.
Unless you've been hearing this for a few times, noise stops within seconds, more you video the noise on the cell phone, ride over to the dealer and let them hear it? They'll order the part and here comes the big job to snap the tensioner plunger out to the slipper rail.
That's all that plastic off, pop the top valve cover off, stick a screwdriver at the rear slipper arm/rail/whatever it's a mess. So that too calls for a rubber top cam cover gasket... IF... it's the cct.
