Tuning Question
07/03/12 10:16 AM

About 2 years ago I installed a head and cam kit on my 08' with a PCV. She dynoed over 200+ on that humid day. I just had a new head gasket and new cam caps, but the local dyno shop only pulled 185 on it recently on an ugly humid day here. Installed new Brisk plugs, all the heads are good. The dyno tech did state that their unit is off by 10-15%. What else should I be looking for? I'm willing to head to another tuner anywhere on the east coast. I'm in MD, but need to get this thing dialed in right.

If it's running good, don't sweat it. The dyno # don't mean shit. If the last tuner's dyno is off 10-15% as stated, it's still making the same power as before. No?

Hub, classic!

I'm not putting all the specs out on the forum. But I do see your insight.

Dogo,
No, he's not a Dogo. He's a boxer terrier mix I adopted five years ago.

Evidently, the same folks who give a flying shit about dyno numbers. Unless you're racing for money, dyno numbers are nothing more than bike-night bragging rights. No one here, and I mean NO ONE has the balls (or lack or brains) to run a STOCK ZX-14 at full chat on the street in anything other than short bursts. So unless you're racing, and getting paid for winning, numbers are just numbers. Or, as Paul Dean called it, "A dick-waving contest."

Gator if you want to compare numbers, you need to go back to the original dyno you got your 200+hp reading on, thats the only way you'll get the peace of mind you're looking for (or not) by seeing what the current numbers are. You can't compare diff dyno's to evaluate changes.....too many variables.

BadinBlack, your right I was thinking that same thing. I'll probably wait until the end of the season since that spot is tuning all the big boys in MIROCK.
