I love the new BMW s1000r an I want one but let's be serious is it really that much faster than a zx 14 and is it really that impressive that bricks it's getting all these great passes with a stock engine. I'm not haten but let's be serious brocks have ran 8.49 on a stock engine but look at all the money they got into the bike. Swing are 1500, bst wheel 5500, shock 900 , exhaust 1800 , power commander 350, an let's not forget the bike cost what 15 Grand.
So my point is you give me 8grand and that same rider and I'll pull 8.5 all day on a zx 14 or busa . Is anybody else with me or am I the only one .

Also street bike mag did a round up of all the fastest bikes against the BMW an the 14 was left out what's up wit that?



zx14 white bike + white wheels= cleaner than the board of health
2007 hayabusa black out brocks and vortex everything..

I have talked to Brock about this very thing ...Mod a zx14 with the same goodies and see what happens ...The BMW has gone 8.49 with Shine riding ( i saw it first hand )...JT has gone 8.44 , but remember JT is 109 pounds ..Shine is about my weight ..Both these runs were done in killer Air .. I have seen two zx14s with stock motors in good air go low 8.60s and have been 8.70s with mine with pump gas NOT MR12 like the BMW uses ..I feel strongly the zx14 will go 8.50s in good air using MR12 fuel and a set of BST wheels ... Will it go 8.40s ?? It is possble with JT riding it in good air at 109 pounds ... I think for the most part the zx14 will fall short by a tenth of a second and run in the mid to high 8.50s... With a tenth of a second between bikes it comes down to rider skills reaction times to who will win the race.. If you look at Brocks stock wheel base S/S BMW that has run 8.77 with JT riding Vs Rickys stock wheel base zx14 that run 8.80s in S/S trim it's darn close even with Ricky weighing in at 180+ pounds..Remember that 8.80 was done with a total weight of 680 pounds ..We all know the BMW is much much ligher than a zx14 to start with ..
Brock and I talked about using his 2006 ZX14 and setting it up just as the BMW and see what happens ..Brock said when he gets some free time he may just do that and see what happens .. He already did this to his Gen 2 Busa and it ran 8.50s , i just don't think it will be any difference that what the Busa ran seeing that the Busa and zx14 or so close to start with ..

Amen, Bro.. Nice bikes --all the new liters are going to be awesome but I don't quite see them taking over hyperbike territory----not quite yet. Actually, I think the new liters might be making the smaller sportbikes obsolete quicker than our bikes.

Ibad i think the S/S class is defunked along with AMA Pro Star .. I did hear that some bike races up in the northeast still still have a S/S class but i have no info on it ..

The BMW S1000R doesn't compete with the ZX14, guys. Don't even bother.

Your best ZX14 couldn't follow a BMW S1000R around Road Atlanta, wet or dry.

But.... the new 2011 ZX10 can pass the BMW on the back stretch, the downhill S, wherever it wants to. So lets compare those two.

Cycle World got a good ZX10 last month, and were impressed beyond their wildest expectations. The 2011 is so much better than the 2010 and so completely ground-up different, you aren't sure its still a ZX10.

Lets see how 2011 World Superbike pans out. If Kawasaki can attract a rider who can actually ride instead of crash, they might have something to show for it.

You have a bunch of different cam material and maybe the spring harmonics were more setup for cast type cams. Who knows? No flex in cam, then send that energy down the next path. I have no clue?

Sit the bikes on the dyno and run the same length swing-tire-rim-chain out the drive sprocket. HP wise, the rr is going to eat the 14. The 1000 pumps out more if not equal HP to a 14 with 350cc less bore-ring!

Boring! Squeeze down the bike, then the bore, and up with more HP? That can only mean one thing = "Cash Waiting!"

The whole point of the hyper class is to have speed with comfort. Not so with the S/S, can the 14 hang with an S/S on the track with comparable riders no.

But at the same time can you throw your wife on the back of the 1000RR or new 10R and put in a 600 mile day in comfort? Nope

And you can even run well into the triple digits 2 up in comfort.

.......and the hyperbikes are just cool. They're the LSR posterboys and I don't think that is going to change for some time. Maybe a few years out, we'll see a stretched ZX-10 that does 240 but that's gonna be a lot of time and a lot of $$$$$$$$ out of somebodies pocket. + there will still be bigger and badder hyperbikes from 2006 (more or less completely rebuilt) still running the sand......not to mention there is a good chance someone will make a stronger stock 1300+ cc sportbike by that time.

I'm tellin' you guys, we have to believe by now there is no end. The bike makers are stringing us along, they always have been and they always will.......make something faster. .....and we love it which makes us go out and buy it.

Kruz--might as well start socking away a few bucks each month to get a new ZX-16 when it comes out in mid 2015. They're going to do it at some point....you know they will...or they'll do something else to make a faster bike. The new ZX-10 is just the next ZX-14+ in its adolescent stage.

Yea I see maybe an HP bump for the 14 in the future and the addition of ABS and TC (a slipper clutch would be nice). I'm holding out to see if anything changes with the 14 over the next 2 years before I purchase my next street bike. If no major tweaks come along I'll just keep my 07' and add a conk to the stable for the street and just pick up another good strong 6R for the track.

You need to remember; you cannot mix a winker/TL release ready for race or trackday is the 1000 not the 14.

14 is a whole different animal. It's fat for your fat ass getting older. It's semi this and semi that all rolled into one. It could be a trackday bike but it's wide with big bore torque = ING your fat ass around.

The 1000 is grooming your ass for the petite look and I found long ago, the smaller she is the better for racing. You want it all? That buzz-bomb is high rpm to get you the torque of big-wide-14.

1000 has oval-trunk space to drag the head gasket in, so you see oval 47mm length in the vertical, not large marge in the horizontal. Suck on those throttle plates now. You have 6'6" man here looking for leg and darn she darn if that little petite yammy srx600 was not a shrink to fit jean is clone-knee-gene a 600 size 14 that fits the 6feet+ of us.

AFuckingDART is what I'm looking for. I'm so cramped in this bike I wrinkle the feathers at the back of this dart ass it is. Ol'6Footear, is going to cry he can't have it both ways either but shits the TPSays it's a keeper either way.

Fit 6-6 and me in a 14-15-16-Shepootee needs to fit the bill and all is fine we find a lounge chair kind of ride. ZIt's so close. Slooooow Close!
