Sorry I can't tell you how to load a map. I bet that's what you are asking. If interested in picking up some tips on install, check out the "PCV under seat install" thread in How-Tos. You might find some of the points helpful even if you plan to install on ram air as reccomended by dj. (Under the forman may also be a place for easy access)

If you use the screw that holds down the coolant reservoir as a ground, there is a simple mod to that screw that will be a lot safer. You simply need to change the screw to a stud and tighten a nut and star washer on top of the ground wire and then another nut on top of the reservoir. Ask me about it if you need to. I'll dig up the post Phil left foe me. Very informative.

Rook, I vaguely remember that post, if you get a chance, could you post it here? Then we'd have it again....

Here it is, Privateer. Even I had a tough time finding that one. post #10 was Philhnnss' ground recomendation.

There was also a thread about an alternate ground on the frame. Let me know if you need that (or just look at the 'PCV under seat install' thread in How-Tos). I am using this ground and so is blue07. It works.

I have never tried under the forman but a guy I know who had his PCIII installed and tuned by Fuel Moto told me they put it under the forman. I think you're right though. It would be easy access and easy install under the forman but why put it somewhere where it's going to get really hot?

Hey Lytnin, Make sure you ground it properly or you will throw codes, attach it directly to the battery. Remember I can Tune it .Also I agree with Scottjkyl, leave the USB cable attached so it's easier to get to. Jeffo

If it comes in this week I will fire the furnace up in the gayrage and make an under the seat install or at least try. being completely computer stupid is killing me.
Jeffco I will probably be calling you after the install to see what you can do. Don't worry I have an extra set of plugs (joke that I could not resist). It is coming from fuel moto with one of their maps loaded so if I get one from you I get to compare.
Thanks == Bobby

RE: PC5 Question

^^^I do not have my USB cable plugged into the PC but as far as I can tell, the cable included with the PC should have no problem reaching from under the seat to just about any location on the bike. I plan to run my cable from under the seat, along the side following the grey, taped bundle of wires, up under the ram air cover where it will attach to my LCD. If it seems too hot under the forman for the USB, I will just run it under the gas tank and have it stick out from under the tank cover.

I know, I know, everyone is asking why TF I didn't just put the PC in one of those two locations in the first place. Under the seat just looks cool. It is also probably the safest from the elements.

Tucked my PCIII right under the left Ram Duct cover-right in there inside the fairing.USB port pointing up.I can remove the PCIII by lifting out over the fairing.Sits nicely in there-out of heat, and the little foam backing on the fairing there snugs it nicely.Three screws-Voila!Ran my PCIII harness along the GREY harness-ground connected to the subframe(easy to check and get to).

I now have a PC5. It was on the porch when I got home last night. Time to put the 14 on the lift and start pulling plastic.

I believe he is going to have a go at installing the PC under the seat. That means every piece of plastic and the tank must come off.

lytnin, just be patient with disconnecting the wiring harness. That is the hardest part, by far. Tug moderately hard, alternating top and then bottom of the plug. It will move a miniscual bit every time you pull. Pulling hard won't work, it just makes it wedge in there and be aggravating.

Well it is in. Was gonna go under the seat then decided to go the air duct route. Harness popped right apart and snapped right back together. For the ground O cut the head of a bolt off to make a stud for the ground wire. Thanks to those that came up with that idea.
The TPS was easy to set but could not find anything on how to set the accell pump. Found it in the drop down on the laptop but nothing on how to make it happen.
While I was at it I added an outlet so I have some power for a tire pump and ect.

RE: PC5 Question

I did find out that the PCV gets power from the computer via the USB connection. That's why it no longer comes with the 9V battery hook up. That means the bike doesn't have to be running to load a map. The PC doesn't even need to be connected to the bike to load a map.
Load the software from the CD into your computer. Jeffos map will come as an attachment. Just copy it into your list of maps the CD put on your C drive. You open the PCV program, click Open Map File, double click the map you want, then click Send Map. You should get a message that the transfer was successful. When that fails...(Murphy's Law)...There is a users manual on the DynoJet website.
Good luck

Today was the 1st chance I had to ride the 14 since the PC5 install and all I can say is WOW. It still has the Fuel Moto map in it but one can sure tell a difference.
Gonna try Jeffs map pretty soon so I will see if there is a difference.

So is an indicated 140 to 145 to fast at 5:45 am on ones way to work?

Youns all know that would have nothing to do with checking cool air and a PC5 out.

I would say one long strait stretch but these bikes don't need much strait to make 140 and of course that was without cages around.

I'm starting to find that they do require a lot more space to safely slow down in than it takes to accelerate. You might well find yourself doing a little brake touching. It's amazing how hard the engine pulls in a decel but at triple digits, it might pull an awful long time before you are safe.
