OK, First question:

As I mentioned, I got 218,300 miles outta the HD without any major work. I ride every day, rain or shine, a minimum of 120 miles. How many miles can I expect to run out of my ZX?

Thanks

I have over 30k on mine. Think some of the others have 80ish.

INTIMID8TR at zx14.com has over 100K on his 14. Only routine maintenance and still runnoing as strong as it did when new. He still does triple digits all the time. Heard of others with 90K.

"INTIMID8TR at zx14.com has over 100K on his 14. Only routine maintenance and still runnoing as strong as it did when new. He still does triple digits all the time. Heard of others with 90K."...my 07 was 'tired' at 51,000 miles....according to some.

My 07 at 24,000 miles got a valve check.They were ALL on the lower range of the factory specs.Never burned any oil....no leaks.Nuthin.I think she'll keep going for AT LEAST another 51,000 miles IF the new owner takes good care of her.Clutch worked perfect.PLENTY of high end runs on mine.

Thanks folks;

Yep, maintenance makes sense.

Bought the HD in 04 with 2 miles on the odo. went a K&N air filter and a less restrictive exhaust (Thunderheader, for what it's worth) Changed the oil using Red Line syn, every 3,000 miles. Cam chain tensioners went at 100,000 and I did the 218,300 on the stock top and bottom ends - no other major work and til the end, she would still do 130mph -with a little room :)

Cam chain broke at 90mph, balled up and ate the end of the crank is what finally did 'er in.

ZX is Japanese engineering with liquid cooling, I'm hoping I can get close to what I've gotten out of my 92 Honda Accord wagon - 20 years and 222,000 miles - still running :)

What Harley does 135mph even when new? I don't know of any, but good job. I have 170,000 nearly on a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650 that's been retired for 20 yrs so I'm hoping the ZX14 is up to par with it at least.
