"ROOK" That must have been one of the coolest things in your life. How'd you score that?
It was 10 out of 10 on the "glad I had the chance to scratch that off my bucket list!" It was exciting and a little bit intimidating being on the track for the first time and having the ZX-14R on track for the first time. There is no sighting lap, you just scan your ring card ride, through a coned area and blast off! My reaction to the first car that past me was "Oh yeah, look in the mirrors dummy!" I had no clue a BMW M3 was behind me wanting to overtake until he overtook me on a right hander. After that, any time car headlights were in my mirrors I would be ready to move over. I know it sounds weird getting passed by cars on a track session, but you do. They know the track most likely and you don't. Plenty of blind corners that you go around, dips and crests hide the road from you. I had one scary moment where the back end got loose braking into a corner that I went too hot into.
A couple of riders said that they didn't want do it as they had done the ring in the past. They felt it was unsafe with every cager overtaking and it being a slick track. If I had the chance I would do it again and try pushing a little harder.
"roadczar" If I remember correctly anyone can do it for about 50 euros.
It was 27 Euros's for one lap. 100 Euro's for 4 laps.

Rook, read your post again, I understand what you're saying about how did I score that, LOL. The UK ZX-14R forum guys did the Eifel Mountain tour in Germany. One of the stops of the day was on Sunday at the mid point of the Ring. If we wanted to do the Ring we could while we were there we could.

Cars will always have a big advantage cornering. The car I drive isn't much but I will corner as fast with it as I will on my bike and I have much less concerns about what will happen if I loose control. LOL cars don't fall so easy. You did the polite thing by letting them pass and that's important for a newbie. IDK how much a hundred Euros is worth but it is probably a fair amount if track days in the US are about $300. Throw in new tires and oil....mayb brake pads, it costs a bundle to go fast. If you can spend the money to learn the track, BMW M3, PSHH! You might give him a run for his money in the corners but should be easy to leave him on the straightaway I guess you have to keep in mind they'll might be caught up mid corner and try to make a pass that is dangerous for you. The 600s complain of this a lot on the track. It's a dangerous environment by nature but a little common sense and courtesy goes a long way. Then again, you did pay your $100 Euros too so no reason to not get your money's worth.
BTW, why do we see the graffiti written in English? US military base? I won't harp on our young military men for having fun but that is pretty embarrassing. ...go to another country and paint on their walls.. geeze. That is an awesome picture of you up top though. Looks like a magazine article photo!

I only paid for one lap. I didn't want to chance me getting to cocky and not having a ride home back to England if I fucked up a line or something, LOL.
It's German law to let the faster vehicles pass on the left and for the slower vehicle to move over and stay on the right side. It even says it as you drive onto the track in English...I wonder why, LOL!
