Its never too late

For your first sportbike!

Hello ladies and gents...I've had the fortunate pleasure of piloting two wheelers for the past 35 years. Yet until now, never has there been a sportbike in the picture!

Kawasaki has roots with me that extend back into the early 80's with my first kz900. Since then, there have been numerous Z1's and 1000's to grace my path along with other 2 wheel machines That I've custom built over the years to fulfill my riding pleasure.

I've also had the fortunate pleasure to race a dirt latemodel stock car competitively for the better part of 20 years only to just recently hang my helmet up, quite possibly for good. For this adrenaline junkie, speed was and is, the only cure for my affliction.

I realize that I'm no longer in a 900Hp 2100Lb race car but a 180ish Hp 600Lb rocket. Without further explanation, I'm sure most can see why I've made my choice.

So cheers to an absolutely awesome machine! Looking extremely forward to the possibilities this forum and its members will bring me (shout out to cblast) as I start my next chapter in hot rodding..

Regards, Jimmy

JPR95,

Welcome! But I'm having trouble understanding why Z1's, KZ900's, and 1000's are not sportbikes?? In my opinion the Z1 created the sportbike category. There was nothing like it when it was introduced and it left the other motorcycle manufacturers scrambling to catch up.

But I'll grant you that the ZX-14 is unique even among sportbikes.

I fully understand what you're saying and where you're coming from. All my previous bikes have been modified or hot rodded drag bikes. Not once did I ever considered them the sport bike they actually were.. However you are correct! I just never viewed them that way..

It paines me to use the term "crotch rocket" or "sport bike" because I swore I'd never be caught on one.. Until now. Chalk that one up to ignorance.. Just wish I would have had this epiphany sooner. After all these years, to finally ride a bike with suspension and acceleration, priceless!
