Rear wheel spacers
11/16/10 7:15 AM

Just put my new wheels on and darned if I neglected to check that i had put the left rear wheel spacer on the left and the right rear wheel spacer on the right.

The two spacers are not interchangeable. If I had them reversed, would they have even fit right? I hate to tear it apart again to check. Can anyone tell me if it is even possible to install the rear wheel with the spacers on the wrong sides?

Rear wheel spacers have a left and right

Real simple> If you were a 1/4" off on one side, the wheel would shift over one side. It would not look centered and it would send the chain rung toward the chain guard to either side of that plastic guard. Stand back and now look at the chain being centered to the chain guard.

Ah yes.

Thanks Hub. I figured you would have a good pointer on this one.

I had the parts laid out in the correct order for reassembly but I was in a hurry putting stuff back. Just want to be sure.

Thanks.

Just put my new wheels on....

Don't I wish! Sorry for the false alarm. Same old stock wheels. Just some new tires. BT-003s. Can't wait to give them a good try but I'll have to wait for next Spring--------unless we get a few nice, warm days before winter really sets in----I might be tempted.

The "smaller"(O/D) flanged spacer goes to the right,matching up with the brake caliper/axle hole mount block(the "longer" of the two spacers).You'll definitely see if it's correct...the larger(O/D) flanged one would be overlapping that axle hole/brake mount piece...there would be a "lip" sticking up...not correct.(yer on Hub..lipshticking... )

Long=right,Short=left

Flange is flush with caliper mounting block/axle hole(the "long" spacer)

Thanks, Blue. Looks like I definitely have it right. Brake rotor side, the spacer is longer and sticks out more and flange edge matches flush with top of brake mount piece.

Chain is straight back to front. I was right all along but definitely worth asking about.
