Those end caps/screw covers are pretty cool. Are these the ones that you got? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-1-8-in-x-1-8-in-Black-Plastic-End-Cap/3012658
I was wondering the same thing. I've seen those before but never thought about using them for the bike. I really like that lil appearance mod, it looks factory the way they fit down in the recesses of the covers. I would definitely do this one except one of the first mods on my bike will be a Pro-Bolt fairing screw kit. I will probably order black screws with laser etched Pro-Bolt insignia for the ram air covers so I'll want to show those off. I really think your idea is cool though. If they had those caps in other sizes, I could see giving each a shot of a color matched paint and using them all over the bodywork. It serves as a paint protecting plastic washer and it adds an aesthetic touch at the same time. Love it!
The seat looks good. If it keeps you comfy, that's the main thing but I found from past purchase of a Saddleman seat, the stock seat is much lighter. I don't go on long rides so I'd carve down a stocker to almost nothing. You take those rear subframe rails out and slim the stock seat way down, you have a true wasp tail. ...but then you have to sit on it. Sure looks cool when you look at it and definitely gonna allow the biggest guy to tuck down low but I'm sure, not a pleasure to ride for long. I wasn't real enthused about the fit at the back of my Saddleman. It left an obvious gap at the leading edge of the triangle tail piece fairing. You couldn't see it with the tail cover on. The tail cover didn't fit over the pillion seat either. It made a wide gap which did eventually settle in better. My 08 was basically black so the fairing gap wasn't real noticeable. I'm sticking with stock seat and plan to carve it down. The tail section is so spacious, I see no reason to not cut out the whole pillion seat and put something cool back there like a nitrous kit with electronics and a bottle. Cut the seat cover fairing, attach a hinge and some Dzus fasteners and you have a trunk full of cool gofast stuff. That's my plan with the seat.
The blue windscreen looks perfect too! I say keep it. What else can you get that will give better wind protection? Nothing! LOL it's a sport bike, you'll just have to tuck down if you really need better wind protection than you helmet offers. I have a blue Puige doublebubble I bought for my Gen1. Never used it. I think it will fit my Gen2. I've already considered colors for aftermarket windscreens and determined blue wasn't going to do it but looking at yours, it works perfectly. Sorry, I'm doing that too.
LOL, we will end up having the same bike even after mods.
I'm going with black on just about everything. Rearsets, levers, gas cap, bar end mirrors... The 40th anniversary edition is too bold to start introducing color accents. My approach will be to compartmentalize starting with the frame. That's going to be wrapped in CF vinyl. The fairings are bold enough. I think simplifying it is a much better approach than making it more complex.
