Better safe than sorry there, skewed. I just recently bough a rear handle stand because I was removing the dog bones on my busa. The nuts are so tight, I was afraid a forward handle stand might tip backward when I wrenched. It probably would have been ok but I'd rather not find out the hard way.
Grn, I used a Condor wheel chock and it was as you described. I rolled the tire in under power and when I took it out, I had to bounce it a couple times to flip the scoop down. I'm in the market for a Condor now because I'm afraid to use the rear handle stand without something holding the bike up. I'm sure I could put a couple 2x4s under the side stand but I don't want to risk it until I'm very familiar with the stand.
Dropping a bike when you are riding it has got to suck but dropping it when you're not riding is worse.
