Old dog learned a new trick yesterday...
I'm a big believer in fancy electrics: Lots of bright aux lights, brake and turn signal lights, loud horns...
I install my own stuff, and I've tinkered with electronics my whole life (Licensed radio / tv rapairman).
Yesterdy, my wife comes to me "Honey, one of my turn signals is out on my cycle."
OK, no problem, it's one of the aftermarket signal lights I installed. I grab my meter and unbutton the front facia to begin the debugging...
The wire to the lamp falls into my hand, and it's sliced clean in half. My jaw drops and I examine the wire. It looks like a knife cut it.
Turns out, I use plastic pull-once-to-close tie wraps to mount my wiring. The inside of those straps is *sharp*!
Over a short time, they cut the wire...
I looked over all my cycles, and found a few more wires that looked iffy. I pulled out the soldering iron, and an hour later, all was right again...
All my plastic tie wraps are now removed. I used the baggie tie strips instead. Those kind that come in packaging to mount stuff onto cardboard backings, and also tie plastic veggie bags closed with. No more sharp, cutting, mounting straps!
