I noticed coolant residue on and below my thermostat housing yesterday. I have not yet ripped into it in any detail but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. Both my previous Kawasaki cruisers had the notorious loose coolant hose clamp issue, and I was wondering if this may be hte cause here as well. Assuming it isn't, then am I right in thinking the leak would most likely be coming from either where the housing bolts to the motor, or where the housing halves connect? The coolant residue seems to be located around the housing only, and not noticably coming from any other area.

Sounds like ya got er narrowed down...you'll find it now.I've never had a leak there...but I tighten my hose clamps every once in a while just because.A little torqueing on the housing bolts won't hurt either.
