Another ZX14R/land missle owner

Not 100% certain, but its looking very good, now. My local dealer came through for me with a very good deal and its only a matter of if the other bike is still available.

Wish me luck, and I'll post photos as soon as its rolled in the driveway (assuming it the deal happens, of course).

I am excited to say the least. Hopefully, next week I'll have a 2012 spankin brand new Zx14R!

Don't baby it...but don't thrash it either...stay outta the limiter, but run er up pretty good in the first 100 miles or so..CONGRATS!Yer gonna love yer new baby.Up and Down through the gears..plenty of decels under load at first.First 20 or so miles...VERY important you set those rings with varying loads.Smooth but brisk accelerations.....with full decels using the engine to brake.

I would NOT let her idle for longer than a minute or so before riding.Just long enough to circulate the oil...then go for it.Idling will not be good for ring setting.Hell...you probably know all this anyway!Congrats again!I would change your oil at 200 miles...filter as well...and put full syn in there...I used 7100 Motul Full syn 10/40.Works great! My motor's strong and quiet as can be.I'm VERY pleased with mine. You will be also. And check your meter bracket bolts! They have been known already to be not quite tight enough.;)

I wonder about the people who have motor problems at 5000 mile followed that advice.I revved mine a bit but never near the top of the motor.Maybe thats why my motor uses no oil an is in one piece.I do say up and down with the gears and revs.Never holding one speed so the rings wear good.

Well...I got 51K oil non burning miles outta my 07....never had any motor issues...broke in 'by the book'...yup.Plenty of power...no problem there.

I've got just at 9K right now....runs sweet.Trying to describe throttle use and engine performance on a keyboard is pretty difficult.Things can easily get misconstrued.I didn't 'race' my engine. But I decided I was gonna do THIS breakin a bit more like 'Brock's' deal...but not quite.I watched his video...and read Ricky's comments on their dyno experiences with their new bike...less than 200 miles(way less)and she was putting out right under 200 hp stock. With their break-in.

So I kinda 'modified'(stayed stock that is) mine...and broke it in 'in between' what I was reading and seeing. The rear spindle on that dyno gives a really good 'pull' against the tire there when they're decelerating.Nice 'pressure' for the rings.I ran mine up like that ,but certainly not anywhere near redline...but a couple of good strong accels and decels....THEN...I took it a shade easier as I went on....building the load apps more and more as the miles picked up.It definitely wasn't 'by the book'...not this time...but so far...she's doing wonderfully...no oil consumption...no noise.Smoother than my 07.Trans is doing really well...shifts very snickety and positively.

I did NOT run her hard and up in the first few miles...nope.I let stuff work it's way around a bit first...but within the first 20 miles...I did run er up at least one good accel, and one good decel.Under load.

"Really excited about getting the bike."....yeppers...awesome man.Gonna love this thing!

Got it. What little I've had the chance to ride it, I am amazed at how well it seems to ride, handle, shift, brake................this bike has it all, and in spades.
A very comfortable, smooth riding and shifting, braking and handling, MONSTER of a machine.
Wow. Just WOW.
