Hello,
I just purchased a new 2014 ZX14R (the satin black with red cowl stripes version). I had a previous 14R (2013), but traded it for a ‘12 6R and a 13 ‘10R. Had fun for about a year, but a really great trade back offer came up... so back to the 14R. I’m 64 years old, retired from MIL and LE, and have been riding bikes for 44 years (Christ! I’m old!!), and have driven “superbikes” for most of those years without killing myself too badly... I started with a Norton 750 Commando back in the day in 1970 while in Germany, and over the years have owned a crap load of two wheeled ballistic missiles... When you get old tired and broke down, something’s gotta’ give, and the 14R is a quantum leap over the “others” in comfort for my poor back and butt; not to mention general driveability in low and mid range rpm levels.
I don’t “race” anymore, and my “let’s see what this baby will do” moments are confined to a monthly trip to a desolate 10 mile long, perfectly straight and level road to “clean out the pipes”, with a couple of 10-15 second “bursts” to 9500-10,000 rpm. I do some modest, if not conservative “curvies and twisties” (the Metzlers will be replaced with Q3’s in a few months, or after I get at least 1500 miles on the stock tires).
I live in rural South Florida (Okeechobee – we have way more cows than people...), and this horrible monsoon season is about over, so maybe I’ll stop looking at it in the garage, and maybe start driving it... LOL!!!
Plans? I want to eventually replace the factory exhaust (weight and appearance...). After much research, thought, and preference, I have narrowed my choice to the full Yoshi R-77 (or maybe the Brock equivalent). I am both aware, and understand that doing this will likely require changes to the FI system (ECU). I have sent an email to CBlast.
Looks like a nice place here, look forward to participating.

Welcome, groom.

Have you met Silver? I think Sil is going thru what you went thru with the rash of little hotrods. Maybe now some get it. Unless I'm wrong, Sil.

Yep, had a yellow norton, with dual [upsweep pipes] that ran on the side. Rare was that bird, yes?
