You probably got the wrong spring for your weight. With suspensions... best to let a pro set it up for you IMHO

So are talking front, rear or both? Why not correct springs in first place as are they not ordered to your preferences?

rear spring probably came with the right spring but it just didn't suit the rough roads around home shock will also need a revalve to get it even better. They take a bit of time to set up properly

If a shock is ordered to suit the bike & your weight it should not need revalving/re-springing. I purchased a Penske 8983 double clicker, installed it & have not had any reason to even adjust it since installation. Did you buy this suspension new?

So we are just talking rear... What exactly do you mean by harsh? I have ohlins rear and I could not yet describe as harsh. If you dial in more rebound damping, it'll slow the spring from, well, rebounding and will smoothen out firmness or "harshness" but will get to point of very slow return and will feel very soft and will feel like back end of bike just sinks and almost wollows. This will also make turn in very slow and unpredictable. So, you been dialing rebound out so the spring springs back very quickly and this might be what you are feeling.

For me, the stock front end was harsh when set up the way for me to feel any control. No matter how I set, was either too soft or too firm. It basically wasn't soaking up road irregularities and didn't ever feel planted. The aftermarket I had installed did wonders in every area.

I haven't changed springs only, so I don't know how that would feel. The ohlins seems to have a pretty good range of adjustment, so I'd imagine if need revalue (let alone spring change) itwas quite far out from where ohlins assembled based on the specs they were given.

So I guess you went softer rear spring?

The Penske is a totally different shock to a Ohlins the Penske comes costom valved for u straight out of the box . The Ohlins off the shelf needs to be revalved to suit rough roads and yes this is being done bye a Susp guru .harsh rear shock surely u know what a harsh rear shock feels like good on smooth roads but won't handle bumpy roads sharp edged bumps .anyway all good shock is 100% better with softer spring

My Ohlins shock came custom made for both my weight and the bike, just needed install and adjustment!
