Brocks CT Duals/Streetmap2/MPG
07/07/12 12:12 PM

I just finished my first tank of 89octane on the ZX14R w/Brocks CT Duals. I got 154 miles and filled up with 4.7 gallons. Thats 32.6mpg. Low fuel light was blinking indicating almost exactly 1 gallon in the tank with a 5.8gal tank. I really wasn't paying attention with the stock pipes and the first 4000 miles on the bike, but think I was filling up between 165 and 170. The only real reason I pay attention to gas mileage is for big swings or changes indicating a too rich map, which in my experience can steal as much power as too lean, (or more.) I've read where Brocks maps are pretty much on the rich side. Interested in hearing what anyone else is getting with Brocks Streetmap.

Edited to add that I'm currently running PC5 with Brocks Streetmap2.

Everyone this KAWIFAST over at bikeland he is a sick sick person stay away. And on a sersious not you should be using 91+ in the heat of texas. You are not a drag racer. Ask brock himself in that kind of heat you could start to hear pining from the engine, and even if u don't its not good for it in that heat. Call brocks yourself monday and talk to tech. department if you don't believe me. Just lookin out for a fellow rider!!!!! But sersiously check into it,its not worth it,ask any real engine guy,in that heat you could be hurting your engine. Run 91-92 you can not tell the difference. For us street riders there is NO need to push it with lower octane. U might lose 1-2 horses,me my first dyno pull i pulled 197hp with 89,went back 2 weeks later with sunoco 91 and pulled 201hp,i know its a different day but what i'm trying to tell you it doesn't matter.

I dunno I talked to Brock and three different tuners (Including one from Aprilia here in Texas) and they all told me 89 is fine. The Aprilia tuner added that as long as it doesn't detonate you're fine. Brock's even had a long article (written by someone else) demystifying running lower octane. I'm surprised he's telling you to run 91 now! Especially since he's known for riding his 06 on 0w oil!!!! As far as hp, you could be right but my butt dyno says way more than 1 hp. The Brock's map I've got right now on my 1st gen feels like it was made for Exxon 89. I can tell the difference when I put Shell etc.

According to Brock, 89 makes the most power. The only reason to run higher is for other power adders like NOS...

2015 30th Anniversary Edition 14R #250-> Brock's CT Ceramic Coated, Ivan's ECU Flash V2 & Map, Block off plates, HM Strain gauge quickshifter, GPR Damper, Spiegler lines, Muzzy's Sliders, Pazzo levers, Rizoma Next Fluid Tanks, DDM Ultra 5500K HID's Low & Hi, DB Windscreen, Cox Radiator guard, gold titanium bolts... too many to list at this point
