What seems to be the best rear shock setting for street riding with a 180 pound rider for a 14r?
Compression and dampening.

Agree 100%
You might want to add Penske to that line up though!

Rear: Spring preload—15mm thread showing; rebound damping—1.5 turns out from full stiff; compression damping—2.5 turns out from full stiff
This is according to Sport Rider Magazine and I set mine accordingly. Works great !!!

A lot depends on your personal preference and riding style. I like mine set up just on the stiff side of wallowy. Running soft like this requires very smooth control inputs and no violent slamming of the bike into bends. A harder riding style would require stiffer settings. Go with the Sport Rider recommendations and adjust to suit from there. I would think they'd like it set up a little stiffer than I do.

Danno: You are right. The Sport Rider settings are stiff. There is absolutely no wallowing and the bike corners fantastically. However, it doesnt give a smooth ride especially in the rear.
