Catalytic converter heat
09/13/16 7:07 AM

I am on the 2008 with stock headpipe and leo vans slipons. Well i think thats what they are.
Anyhow the heat coming off the headpipe is rediculouse.
Is this common for this bike and does the header have a cat in it.
I am putting on a hindle 4-1ss headpipe that I got on eBay pretty resonably priced im just dissapointed that the muffler has to be 18 " if anyone has experience using a smaller muffler please let me know.

Yes it is and yes it does. The cat is in the collector and there are also cats in the stock mufflers.

A full system will make it run almost a bar cooler but it still gets hot on a warm day at low speed. The exhaust cools very quickly after shut down though.

A shorty muffler looks good and usually lighter but you might feel it on your foot. never had one but that's what I heard.
