I have just bought an 07 zx14 that is running a PC3usb, and when checking the map on the PC3, I had trouble connecting. The pc3 would power up and communicate with the laptop for about 4-5 seconds then communication would stop, no map data displayed, nothing.Just PC3 serial number. So I actually started the bike while the laptop connected and everything came to life. Not familiar with the Power Commander stuff, I thought this was a little strange. I want to upload another map, as the one on it is way wrong, but not keen on doing so with the motor running, so just asking for advice on is this normal or not and if so is it safe to upload another map to the PC3 while its running.
Current map is for stock bike stock exhaust. Bike is running full akropovic exhaust, wiseco big bore pistons, and k&n filter.

Try just turning the ignition on and see if the PC3 comes on without starting the actual motor. It's normally connected to a power source (pilot/park light etc)that only switches the unit on when the bikes power is on.

If you turn the ignition on the PC3 powers up and the lights sequence thru their cycle then it just goes blank. If you have the laptop connected during that process it connects, gets serial number and then doesnt communicate any more, until bike is running.
Ive only ever dealt with TuneEcu for Triumphs, so the PC3 is totally new to me

Untaimed is correct. Key on gives the box 5v. No need to run the bike. Pull fuses if extending the time say 4 minutes or more. Use a batt charger and no fuses needed to be pulled.

pc3usb will not work without bike running or 9 volt battery attached. the pc3usb only runs when the fuel relay is in operation so if the fuel pumps not working the pc3usb is then dead.

yes it is. but I would advise getting the 9 volt battery adapter . if you ever put a bad map in it to which the bike won't run it becomes a PITA to put another map in and keep the bike running at the same time.

This is exactly why I use a Cobra FI200 and not a dynojet. Its plug and play and tunes itself.
