What the j-box means is it will layer over the existing map. In other words, it will richen from idle up. Because the bike makes no power below 2,000 rpm, you more or less are wasting gas having a setting that low an rpm.
Whereas the complex mapping, you can eliminate any fuel change below 2K. Above that, then yes it is more the better tuning device. However, it won't take that much fuel trim to set the j-box to a performance number. Can the idle handle it? Yes, to a point.
Will it smooth the bottom and give you low end power? Sure. Again, I'd throw that money towards the map style fuelers. Why? Because you can add to the bottom if you wanted. It more kills two birds this way. You're not out of pocket twice meaning.
