Let me change my front tire(s) down the road some. I'll pop the forks, we change the oil in a How-To.
If you want to attempt it now:
Kawi Lube may say 15-10 or find equivalent SAE 5W fork oil.
Amount for general service: Approx. 16.2 oz. after draining.
A fork rebuild and assembled dry: 19.0 ~ +/- 0.14 oz.
I can pull a fork, turn it upside down and drain it without that nasty hex bolt at the bottom of the leg. I break the top nut before I pull the forks. Now, I just turn the fork upside down and let it drain while hanging it upside down between a ladder, say. I am going to prime it or pump it out as it sits there draining; as dry as possible. I walk back in 10 minutes and keep priming until she drains no more. Remember the center rod might be filled you initially turning the fork upside down. So, right side up on the last go around, drain the rod and see if that was empty or you see holes in the upper rod up at the top, etc., then forgetaboutit.
Now, before I remove any oil, I squat the fork on a rubber bumper. I do not let it extend all the way down to the tube. I can now place a measuring rod down the tube; to pre-read the level. I measure the other side and if both are equal, I will try to top the oil off to that old level I know.
First, I will prime/pump the fork with the new oil. Then I [top off] the same distance of the pre-measured height with the new level, making sure I have all the bubbles out and the rods primed with oil; distance piece in place. I'll have to hand screw in a few winds at the fork cap so I an jump on the fork and pogo stick it to move the oil in the marzel veins. I make sure the level is the same, and that is about it.
Fork upper pinch bolts are 15 ft-lb.
Lower pinch bolts are 22 ft-lb.
Fork cap or top plug is 16 ft-lb.

You're welcome, Rich. You don't see to many fork oil threads. The place is young and building tech as it goes. You help build the place with just this kind of stuff. I'm going through the motions soon with a change out, so yeah, why not do a How-To. It's fun if you have the patients and tools. If you want to attempt a fork oil change, you can add to this thread or start a How-To.
You have a problem, someone will get you through a hang up or two. But if you are going to wait for me, I'm changing out the, front brake oil/front brake pads/tires/fork oil and that will be in awhile. I'd say, in a month or there about, I should be completing that sweep shortly, if you rather wait to see video/photos that is?

Let Dave Moss show you more detail. Keep your ears pinned or you will miss a lot. He might have a, how-to replace fork oil in another show. Things like a spring change is as much an eye popper like a pipe change, if you can get the right spring change. For instance, I can think of Painter with the load he has to tow, and a good performance spring would take the harsh out of the tour. That is, if he didn't change fronts and rear springs to find out. It's a huge difference and if I were to tour/track, I would invest in some handling. The screwdriver turns are nothing without a good spring to dial it all in.
