Hey all,
Its been a while since Ive posted. Finally got back from the sandbox in December and got to ride my baby for the first time. Thanks to a mild winter in the Northeast, I have ridden every month this year so far and loving each and every mile!
Unfortunately it all came to a screeching halt two weeks ago when I dropped her Long story short, took off from a stop, slipped the clutch, back tire broke loose at about 30mph and left me on my side, watching my bike sliding in front of me. Needless to say I was pissed, mostly at myself for being so careless.
Progressive finally cut me a check and now the rebuild begins. Damage includes:
Right side upper, middle, and lower fairings
Front cowl
Right mirror
Right rear set
Right bar end and brake lever
Exhaust
Rather than have a shop do the work and pay for labor and dealer prices for parts, Im going to do everything instead. I have ordered the small things already (mirrors, bar ends, rear set). After pricing out replacement faring pieces for the Monster Edition, Im leaning towards purchasing a complete set from Cory at 402bike.com. I have heard people mention him on this forum before and he has complete OEM sets with the tank included with 0 miles on them. Im thinking candy lime green. I def don't want to mess around with Chinese knock-offs.
As far as the exhaust is concerned, I currently have Vance & Hines slip ons. For the cost to replace those, Im in the ball park of some full systems. I was debating between Two Brothers and Brocks. I love the look of his CT full system, and Ive heard nothing but good about it. However the price is steep and Im on a budget. Then I found his GEN 4 (14" carbon fiber) system. Basically the same price as a Two Brothers 4-2-1 but it has the Brocks unmatched support behind it. I really like the look of it. Does anyone else have any experience with either the Two Brothers or GEN 4? Any ideas about sound and power differences between the CT and GEN 4 system?
I have also ordered a PCV and am planning on removing the flies when I install it with the new exhaust. Once parts come in and the rebuild starts, I will post progress photos and product reviews. Thanks for the advice guys.
