Cold and rainy here this weekend. I was just messing around with Illustrator and here's every appearance mod I ever dreamed off all done done for free in my virtual motorcycle workshop! We don't have to go with all of it, just some.

The 2014 mods list follows. Head to toe, we have :
Orange ram air intake
Blue head light block off covers (the lights are coming out)
Blue/ABS plastic front fender
Ohlins forks
Orange brake calipers
Orange brake front lines
Blue "chinned" lower fairings
Fuel tank cap darker blue (the color it is now is too light)
Blue streaked / white finned painted Foremans
LSL frame slider mount painted black
Gold bolts and cone washers, bar end mirror, frame slider bolt, lower frame bolts all gold!
Gold. --lots of gold bolts for the top yoke and handle bar area.
Prolly go with gold engine bolts too (anyone need aset of blue engine bolts?)
Orange ring on sprocket cover (you see it peeking around the lower fairing in this pic.
Ohlins rear shock preload adjuster mounted to frame below seat
Orange hugger, you can just see the front of it where it mounts to the swingarm.
20 ounce Nitrous bottles with pressure gauges, brushed aluminum, mounted under tail LH/RH sides.
Tail subframe removed

watch think? There's still at least two more views. More stuff on the other side. Thought I'd get this ironed out before I refine it in PhotoShop and continue to plan the right hand side.

Any ideas / opinions much appreciated.

It's getting a little busy, but whatever blows yer skirt up. Taste is a matter of taste.

I like the gold, orange, and black bits you did.

And the fins.

my feeling is that the blue headlight covers are just gong too far. maybe if the rest of the scheme was pretty much stock. also, the blue chin-- maybe white? I think I'll need to black out the turn signals and probably get rid of the Ninja sticker on the side.

I like the blue anodized rims and the white foreman grills are cool but I think the orange bits clash, a little too much IMHO.

Orange? Clash? That's the whole idea! The sprocket is what got that whole orange subtheme going so I think the orange has to stay. I have about 5 things going at once on this bike already so I'm just trying to not expand any farther.

I like this a lot. Maybe the hugger is going to far. Maybe that will just be black. Actually looks pretty good without a hugger, I think but since I tried it here it is.

Like the idea of the orange over the blue but I would leave the foremans a solid color or incorporate the orange, but with the different color blues you have with the body being blue and the blue anodized parts I would keep the orange to a minimum. Just my 2cents, don't want a clown bike, lol

Thanks, Bobby. You're right, about the variety of blues happening in this scheme.

1. We have the anodized parts which include a few variations of dark blue in themselves. I will be spraying the mirror caps and fuel cap to bring those closer to the rest of the anodized blues.
2. Then we have the painted blue which is a Ford Blue like the color of painters tape.
3. The blue of the fairings which to me seems to fit because it is a subtle, dark blue sparkle in the paint.
4. White. I think I am reserving that to the stripes...Oh, and the wheel tape.
5. Silver. Wish I had gold now for the rearsets and side stand but you know what they say about hindsight. Might as well carry the silver through on the nitrous bottles. AND the Ohlins forks have silver bottoms. I wouldn't be painting those!
6. ...and black. I guess there is always going to be bits of black plastic and some parts only come in black. That matches the ram air covers.

I think that covers it. Now how to go about NOT letting that be a clown bike?

The blue headlight caps are out. That will be black if I do it.
As much as I like the orange ram air intake, I think blue works just a little better for this bike.
Gold brake rotor rivets look very nice to me. Doesn't that gold tube look nice on the fork?
I really like the orange hugger but I think black might just be best.

I'm really not feeling the orange calipers. Blue, maybe or a bright polished silver to match the fork bottoms on the Ohlins...but stock grey fork bottoms look really nice I think. ???Maybe just leave the calipers black?

Like the gold frame bolts but I wonder if black wouldn't be better to keep the main part of the profile a solid dark color?

Blacked out turn signals and remove the Ninja sticker, that helps simplify the main mass of the profile which it needs. I'm still planning to go with the painted fins.

I removed the helmet lock. that would be the perfect place to locate the bracket for the rear shock preload adjuster.

There is actually a giant sticker available to stick over a race fairing to make it look like a headlight!

Yes, that is true. As much as I like to get compliments, if there is something I don't like about the 14, I won't do it no matter how many other people might find it appealing. It works the same in reverse, if I really like it, I'll do it even if I know most other people don't care for it at all. I really enjoy looking at my own bike and that makes riding a lot more fun, too.

All that's well and good but I gotta tell ya, painted grills are OUT! I always loved them but they are too much for this scheme. Even just the fins painted is too powerful. It competes with everything else.

Yea man I just like the look to be very simple. Loud colors have never been my flavor, hell I don't even like the green accents on my bike at all. Wanting to go all black but leave the polished SE wheels on.

There's your answer, if it floats your boat, do it...it's your bike.

Nah, painted grills on the 14r look even better than they do on the gen1 bikes. You could remove the side decals on your 2013 or replace with something simpler done in vinyl but I'd leave the fins if it was my bike.

Well day5 of ownership I got the heat gun out, and was removing them starting from the front. All was going great until I got to the gas tank and realized that one is clear coated over not allowing me to remove it. I ended up obviously leaving that one, and the one on the tail section. To go all black, the tank will have to be repainted.

Try midnight sapphire blue front fender and rear hugger but carry the white stripes to both, then add orange pin striping to outline the white stripes. Carry the orange to the brake rotors. White fins on the George formans with just the tips orange. You can get blue lens covers for the rear and turn signals and blue tint for the headlights.

Nastynotch- I think the green on the fins are what really sets off the bike in a good way. But I agree with the remaining decals, they can go.

To go all black, the tank will have to be repainted.

Another thing you can do is just apply a plain vinyl shape that matches your paint color. Might work fine for some colors. Or apply a large sheet of vinyl to the entire tank?

Thanks dericrey. That would make it basically an all midnight sapphire blue bike. The aftermarket fender is pretty small. It took some finagling to get adouble 4" wide stripe on the stock fender which bigger. The hugger will also be pretty narrow tapering to a point with no chainguard molded in. I will be making that from a Yanna shiki Hayabusa hugger. If it works, I will have a go at fiberglassing one. I'm sure my hugger design will not be conducive to 4" double striping any more than the little ZX-10 fender. LOL! (I could do the stock fender like you are recomending however-- and use it for a quick appearance change up).

I like the idea of the orange pin stripe with the bold Whites. Already have orange accents on the rotor edges. Looks nice but as you can imagine, gets dirty with brake dust pretty quick. WIll need to sand and repaint that once/year but I'm sure I could come up with a small accent on the rotors that would not run right through the pads.

I like a few things on the bike, but being a custom builder ( of guns ), I always tell my customers less is more. Too much and it takes away from certain areas.

I like the blue parts, but other colors bring too much to it for me. But as said everyone likes different things, if we didn't we all would be riding the same bikes!

Yes that is a nice busa. I still like the gen1 over the gen2. Be interesting to see what they come up with next.

I am going with all blacked out parts only on my 08 busa. Orange/black fairings and everything else black except for the yellow brake lines.

On the rotors I was thinking orange in the centers where the black is now, to carry the orange from the sprocket to the front.
