Advice?
12/05/12 5:18 PM

Ive been riding a 2000 Suzuki sv650s for a while now and its amazing in the city. i'm looking to upgrade because when riding longer than 30-45 minutes on the highways i get cramped. 'm 6'4 310 and i need a bike that's physically bigger. i was really considering a hyabusa but once i saw what the zx14 had to offer i fell in love so to speak. obviously power isn't my main concern(riding a 650) but i need to know how much bigger a zx-14 in relation to the peg-seat-handlebar measurements. any help here is appreciated. i would just get a test ride but the nearest dealer is 2 hours away. i want to make sure the trip will be worth my time. thanks guys. i like what i've seen here so far.

Welcome...hard to say really...it won't be anything like that 650....you really should go and test one out....you need a larger bike....the 14 is larger. But enough for you?IDK.

Mulikiliki,

I don't know the exact measurements but it will be major upgrade in room & power I could only imagine how tight it must be on that sv650s. I will say that the ride to the dealership will be way worth it! The only downfall you may find is that the ZX14 or ZX14r will not turn as quickly but with time in the saddle you make that all go away an become faster then ever before.

There are many guys here are just are big as you an they love this bike! So go check it out try it on for size an come home with it an make it official an become one of the group!!
It would make a nice holiday present...

I'm 6'2" @ 300. The bike is amazingly comfortable. I honestly believe that the zx14 is THE bike for us bigger fellas that want to ride a sport bike. I have also added the bar risers, lowered pegs, & double-bubble screen. I think you can easily do without these mods, and it will still be more than comfortable enough for your size. Are you doing a lot of inner city commuting? If you are, you may want to consider the Ninja 1000...this bike is a Riot, and its very comfortable. The smaller size and shorter wheel base may come in handy. The 14 is a physically big motorcycle. Even if you don't consider the 1000, test drive it if you can--it's hella fun.

fwiw, the hayabusa was really uncomfortable on my knees. Seemed to me that the ass-to-peg distance was a bit cramped compared to the 14. This is my 2nd 14, and I can't think of another sportbike that can come as close to this as a commuting bike.
