Chrome valve stems.

I'm getting the wheels chromed. If you've done the same where did you find chrome stems?
I'd like quality. No plastic stuff.
Also, I don't have the stems out yet but there are several sizes. What size is ours?

Was it that bad of a post?
To us detail oriented types the valve stem is a critical decision. Only the perfect one will do.
Just thought I'd try to glean a little of the vast knowledge around here and make it easier on myself.

I'm catching up on threads... No, no such thing as a bad post, you-you bling-blinger!

Search 'chrome tire valve stem' and look around. They may have a 45° or 90° angle in chrome... Like candy trick is more like it. You screw on chrome stems; Pull through rubber stems. You'll see the design once you load up a photo of one. Very dependable and I see no problem you retro fit this style on the rim. Just make sure the threads poke through far enough, like 5 threads showing.

Still... My warning banner is out you follow my suggestion you moving away from OEM design. You are on your own she leaks an-shit.

Here is straight stem style from, http://automotive-hardware.com

Thanks for the help.
I went by the shop that's changing the tires and they had some chrome valves that looked good.
I mentioned that I have no experience with chrome/metal valves and told them the members here warned of possible leaks.
They said leaks did happen but the majority of those were valves made in China. The Japanese valves were much better quality and don't leak according to them. I have to admit I wondered why even carry Chinese valves if they cause leaking but I didn't ask. Maybe some people pinch every penney and won't pay the $8 for each Japanese valve? The Chinese were about $2 or 3 each. They had bunches of both valves loose in drawers, no package. The Japanese valves looked like what I want and appeared to be good quality.
I also brought up what Hub said about California chrome not lasting as long as it should due to stricter standards and they agreed. Seems even if you go to a shop that really does it right it can still be hit or miss with how durable it will be. The more I hear the less I like what I hear. So.....
I think I'll go with polishing or maybe a combo of polishing and gloss black powdercoating.
To be honest I've always thought that chrome looked just a bit too shiny and reminded me of this "poser/pimpy" stuff if you know what I mean. I always liked polished but I'm at my limit with it maintenance-wise. My GS1000 and Blazer already have enough polishing to keep up with so I hesitate to add to my misery. Even worse, the wheels on the 14 have parts that are just too difficult to reach with a polishing rag so it would be really hard to keep the shine up in all areas.
But I'm thinking it may be wiser to polish them and not worry about chrome problems. Maybe I can get a couple of years of decent shine without much maintenance and then take the wheels/rotors off to get good access and get them looking their best again. No way I put a clear coat on 'em. Heck, I could even take 'em back to the polisher 3 more times or so and still spend about the same as a chrome job.
I've always liked polished on a black bike. I'm still going to consider a combo of polish and gloss black centers too. Not quite as nice (to me) as all polished but a huge difference in upkeep. Maybe even polish the sides of each "spoke" would look better than all black centers. That's how I did my GS and they look pretty sharp.
I'll ask the shop what they think can be done.
I appreciate the help. If this was a poll what would you choose...all polished or combo?

This site is acting up. I got an e-mail notice that Scottjykl replied. He mentioned some black chrome wheels a member posted here awhile back. But when you click to go to this site his reply doesn't show in the thread??
Anyway, I appreciate the reply. I saw those black chromies and I'm sure they look great but it wasn't quite what I want. Could change my mind if I saw 'em in person but I think I've been spooked off doing ANY kind of chrome now. Something tells me it'll be a mistake.
