KAWI FACTORY STRIPPED A SCREW IN GAS TANK ESCUTCHEON
08/13/10 7:51 PM

I changed the (5) M5 x .8 socket cap screws in the gas tank round escutcheon that holds the hinged gas cap.
I put in polished stainless ones to add a little sparkle.
If you sit on your 14 and look down at the tank top you'll see the 5 screws.
The screw at ~ 10 o'clock was holding on by a tiny bit of thread.
It must have been stripped when installed at the Kawi factory.
That particular screw appears to be a a dummy; it screws into the aluminum escutcheon itself and serves no fastening purpose.
