Yes...I'm at 5 something now.I love the way this bike powers up and shifts. You get those r's right, this baby will downshift all day long without the clutch, and be smooth doing it.That slipper I'm sure helps some.Running up...clicking in higher gears and rpms...just a dream. So much pull...just great. Before ya know it,yer rolling at 150,170...and coming up on a nice fast big curve...I just love this bird...so stable...smooth.I shouldn't talk about mph's...it's almost irrelevant with this machine. She just wants to be let loose and guided in the right direction.
I keep saying (to myself)..."okay...ease up...this aint a track"...but geez...when I hit those big open curves, and those big esses and such....she leans in and holds so good...It's REALLY hard to go 'normal'....really.I guess I'm doing better at following the rules....I have my moments...but then...it's back to being 'lawful' again....IDK....I just can't ride this bike like a cruiser(for long).I think I'm pretty careful though...I pick my spots to fly when it's safe. Not like I go everywhere at triple digits...nope.
I've followed Harleys for miles before....gets to a point, wtf am I doing THIS for?I have to scoot on around and let er fly...for a bit anyway;)...I know they think it's a kid under that lid....if they only knew Maybe I should grow up....ah...who's to say...shit...I wanted a motorcycle like this ever since I rode that first Honda 750 way back when. All my life...I wanted a bike like this...now I have one...had several...they NEVER disappoint or get tiring....Be 60 yrs old this year later...maybe...if I survive;)Cruisers?...nah...no way....not for me....'weird'...yeah,I guess I am....NOBODY 'imagines' me on a crotch rocket...funny really.Everytime I think of that statement..."get a REAL motorcycle"...I have to smile or laugh....what could be more REAL that this missle?:).Sa'll good....it's ONLY the biggest ship I could get and have the maximum fun factor....hell...you guys know what I mean;)
I was just kinda checkin her out in the Sun today on one of my rest stops...the way this green with the gold metallic is mixed, the paint almost looks like it's actually 'moving'....alive on there when you shift your look at different angles. It's a very nice paint job...people always comment on it...usually it's..."Is that a custom paint job,it's beautiful"...nah...I tell em...'just factory...came like that'....makes ya feel good about it.She's definitely apart from the 'crowd' looks wise...I feel good about my bike.

That Black is gorgeous as well...just so stark looking...just looks killer. The Blue is sweet...haven't seen one up close yet...but all the pics of em...beautiful.I'm not a fan of Red...but they're cool also.Hell...they all have a personality unique to the bike IMO.Every color says something else....

Good read, Grn.
Being in my 40s, I have also gotten the * I thought it was some kid who'd own that bike* more than once.
But while that may make us feel a tad bit long in the tooth, it also makes us, or at least me, realize that I pursue happiness, regardless of if I am different then the public's perception of what *the norm* sportbike rider is supposed to be.
Grand machine, most certainly. Power in spades, and at any rpm range. Its amazing, really to feel just how fast this thing will hit 100 plus mph. Incredible thrust as if it were a spaceship.
In a biker world mostly populated with harley type crusiers, its such a good feeling to come rolling alongside a harley ata stoplight, while I sit on a bike that screams futuristic, alien machine that is about to unleash power from hell. Everthing the Harley community stands against......the big Ninja is ALL ABOUT! I love that..........Futuristic, sleek in design and style, otherworldly, and most certainly, profound in its extreme power and ultra smooth ride. I am so impressed with its holding of the road on long trips down the interstate at 90 with the little woman on the back. Smooth as silk and steady as a rock.
I get all kinds of looks, and comments on the green metallic as it illuminates in the sun. Great bike. I am now at about 2,600 miles on mine, and I love it and am so proud to own it, its all mine: lock, stock, and Brock's exhaust!

There are some 40+ sport bike riders my area but not many
And those who do ride a sport bike and over 40 obviously have nicer bikes because they are more established in their careers and can afford a nicer bike than the younger guys

I'm glad to hear that some of you guys might have a gray hair or two like I do. Took me a killer ride up Monitor Pass Saturday then back through Carson City to assault the truck route up to Virginia City (5 miles of very low traffic and lots of twisty fun). I just turned 69 and the passion and need for excitement that can only be satisfied by throwing a leg over a monster like the ZX14R only grows stronger with age. I pride myself with being able to keep the pace with almost anyone on the street. Some of the younger track star types on their 600 and 1000s may be able to creep away in the tight twisties, but I almost always am able to reel 'em in on the straights. Stay in shape guys and keep the fires burning and you'll be enjoying this even when you're an old fart like me.

My really good friend now owns the RR, he wants a 14r too! :) he wants green! He is baffled by the power. Just flat astonished at how well she handles and the leaves out... Gone! :)) that RR has a close ratio tranny in it and she is about a corner speed beast! :) I gots her covered though. :)

I hope by the time I am CC's age I am also flyin' the bird and the norm and still riding the top level sportbikes.
Do good to hear that many of us are in our 40s, 50s, and even 60s, and still love the style and performance of sportbikes over the same ol run of the mill harleys and cruisers you see all over the place these days.
Keep the faith, guys.
