Leather Jacket+Pants
01/27/10 3:22 AM

Hey all,

I was wondering. Is it something smart to fit some jackets/pants in the stores, and then just
buy them from Ebay for way less money?

I was looking around Ebay yesterday and looked At Richa (Not sure if you have this brand too)
and i couldnt really find anything.

Any tips?

.... new leathers will be around 500-700 Euros, so thats around 1000 Dollars.

BOO! =p

find the brand your interested in on ebay then head to the store and find the same one and try it on before you buy it off ebay. the easiest way im thinking would be to go get fitted for a suit and get the measurments from the taylor cause most of those online stores have sizing charts.

might ask some of the guys on here like Mass that race if those things run small or larger than they say. The only other buying tip i have when buying something off ebay is to look at thier return policy cause the last thing you wanna do is spend that much cash on it and then it dont fit and your stuck with it

good luck

I can't believe you have to spend 1000$ on leathers. I'm pretty sure you can get a good full suite for that in the US.

That is a cool jacket. It will be better to order same brand pants and jacket with zip. Different brands might not have matching zips. Waist zips are not just for safety on a sportbike. I wouldn't want to ride leaning forward without a waist zip. Leather pants are pretty stiff and the back of the waist might poke down revealing your knickers. Not too cool. LOL

I used to favor all leather but I would like to try a jacket with flexible fabric on the inner arms. Also, I will be looking for sleeves with buttons and zips situated on the outside of the cuff so I can stop buffing scratches on the tank. Same goes for the ankle zip on the pants - outside zip would be better.

One more- Make sure the pants you get have a lot of length. If they stop at your ankle when you are standing, they are going to ride up to mid calf when you're on the bike. The foam knee armour takes up a LOT of space. If I get another pair, they're be hanging over the top of my foot when I stand.

You're going to have a time finding a good fit at 6'6". Better shop in The Netherlands. <<That must be why leathers cost so much there.

Check out SportbikeTrackgear. They have excellent product information, videos and some reviews. I've bought a couple of one piece suits from them and their sizing info. has been spot on.

I think Heathun would be about Matsuke's size in the shoulder/chest but Matsuke is really tall.
You could go ask Heathun on the post if you want. I'm sure he wouldn't sell it to you if he thought it was not going to fit. Heathun has been around longer than me. He's a good guy.
Question is, will you wear a 1 piece every day?

Thanks Rook. The fieldsheer 1 piece is comfortable and it's easy on and easy off even with a back protector on. If I commuted daily I would probably wear it simply because it is so easy to get on and off.

I'm a little over 5'11" and this one piece extends below my ankles standing up straight so someone 6' should have plenty of lenght. If you want I can measure the inseam.

Where do tall guys get leather suits...Custom made? I'm 6'5" 240Lbs broad in the shoulders and barrel chested...hard to find jackets and especially pants to fit my 36" inseam.

I haven't yet ordered anything from this supplier but I plan to. There's no better way to go than custom made. The chances on a good fit "off the rack" are about ZERO if you're not totally average. I need a short inseam (28") but the shortest I have ever found is 30". That's awfully tall when you consider that riding pants go inside the boot and should hang to the ankle only.
For the price, I don't see how you could go wrong. I'm going to order some pants soon. If anyone has any input before that...clue us1

A $1000 bucks retail is not a lot of cash for a good suit. In fact that will get you one step above an entry level Alpinestars suit. I bought an Alpinestars RC-1 suit a few weeks agofor tarckdayts only) an it was a $1000 bucks. Yes it was painful to do but its cheaper and less painful then skin grafts. If anyone is looking for some inexpensive (not cheap) gear for the street check the below stuff out. They are all closeout deals

$66 dollar gloves

$129 dollar pants

130 jacket.

$189 TCX boots
