anyone had any problems with the fan failing? Mine failed in vancouver on a trip I got it home no problem and its covered under warranty, but the dealer says he can't get one until after july 6, so I'm going down to the dealer to see if he'll take one off a floor model. I already contacted Kawasaki Canada and they said they don't mind paying the extra labour to get me back on the road.

Never had one fail. I did melt the fan on my zx10 when I changed to a V&H header. Too much heat too close to the fan when it wasn't running caused the blades to melt. Then, when it came on, spun the melted plastic to the outer fan support and welded fast. Kept popping the fuse after that.

Good luck with the fan swap. Hope the dealership works with you.

I had a fan failure on my 08. The replacement fan had a superseded number. Maybe they have had issues with them.
I had about 12k on the bike when the fan failed.

Interesting.

Ex and I have about the same mileage. The 3 of us have '08's. Now, what is the month that bike was made? Mine is 9/07. We all fall in that same month, then we have to be in the same assembly plant. Part of the frame letters represent a letter where the assembly plant is;

thanks guys for replying. My 08 had 12K when the fan went. Extra are you in Canada because Kawasaki Canada told me that they haven't had a fan failure in Canada therefore have never ordered a fan. Hub my vin is a little longer, it is JKBZXNC1_______64 I can't tell the month because it's in the shop but I will find out tomorrow. The dealer charges $675 for a new fan, so the extended warranty was worth the $900!

Thanks, otr. Well, if that is something failing with a Japanese part with two bikes me seeing dis? Someone start making American made an sell them fans to Kawi LOL.

Yes, I missed the N on the type. I just checked the bearing and feel. I'm not worried. I'm very aware of my fan with the testing I do to the bike. She can cook quick when I mess with it. So yes, I'm always peeking around the head for a look see.

thanks Hub, the dealer only had one 14 left so I wasn't going to ask him to part it to get me back on the road, I wouldv'e if he had a couple but he didn't. I did think of a Concours fan but it was a different part # and it also has two fans. When I get the bike back I'm going to do the dual fan mod. Thanks again guys for replying.

I have a dual fan on mine, and now I'm wondering if the oem fan will fail one day. If it does, I will just deal with it.

How many of you who have had OEM fans fail have aftermarket headers on ? I notice the CT-DUALs are a little closer to the radiator than OEM. The heat could cause the fan to fail possibly. I had mine ceramic coated so that should help.

No fan problem here. I have a ceramic coated Tsukigi full system and the whole thing, header to muffler cools off in a fraction of the amount of time it took the stockers. I believe the ceramic helps but seems like even an uncoated header would cool off very fast on shut down because the metal is much thinner. Also an after market header should not heat up nearly as much during operation since the system flows much better than stock. No doubt the CTs have a larger diameter pipe which causes it to hug in closer to the rad. If it is cooling off quickly on shut down, I doubt if it would be having more effect on the fan than the stock header did.
