When the ZX-14R first came out, it seemed to make sense to create a separate forum for message threads about the new bike. I'm not sure it makes sense at this point to have these two separate forums.

I could transfer all of the 14R threads into the 14 forum and de-activate the 14R forum.

It might be better going forward.

What do you all think?

Thanks! -bg

Over on ZX-10R.net we have four distinct generations sharing the same forum. We start the threads with (for example)Gen4:High Speed Vibration or Gen3: Won't Start When Hot, that kind of thing to differentiate. Everyone seems to get along fine with it. Just my .02

I am just along this forum for the ride. But, there are very specific differences in the new gen that are nice to know they are being looked at by those who have had the same expirience. On another forum, I had someone answer my question but was basing it off an old bike and while I assume his response was spot on for a 2008, it did not cover the 2012.

Just have to state it's a 14R...or...not.I think most of the guys here now know who has what...they shouldn't be offended if someone asks for a specific person to respond...or not.

^^^^ agree... That's why putting your ride and mods in your signature is important in my opinion. I have had a few member ask me about my mods and was able to target specific members for help as well!

I voted NO, keep them separrate. I don't know about the 14R and I can't make many comments of a technical nature. I've had to use caveates such as "I think" or "it must" when commenting on the 14r. I've decide just to not say anything about it unless I know so as to not cause confusion. Also, would be a major PITA to have to always specify that you are talking about the Gen 1 or the Gen 2 (as if that is not already confusing enough with the 06-07/08-11).

Hayabusa.org has always had a GenII section at the top. When the GenIII busa comes out some day it will take top billing.

The 14 and the 14r are closely related but really, there are not a lot of interchangable parts. Seems like they planned the aftermarket parts to swap but other than that, all new molds and machining on the 14r. Stuff goes together different and works different.

It really wouldn't ruin my day to have the sections combined but seems better organized to keep sepparate.....Althoiugh I am glad to have many new brothers who own the 14r.

I think that it should stay as one but maybe add a few more places for to post for the ZX14r or Gen2. This way if anybody is looking to make the jump from Gen1 to Gen2 all the info. Is in one place.

That's my cents!

I am not going to cry either way. However, would this poll be the same results if it were also in the 14R page?

I say seperate. Nobody puts 14 or 14R in their thread topic. If I'm in 14R section and see "question about *****", I don't bother reading, but in the 14 section I would.
Off topic....BG, I don't know if you did anything, but a couple weeks ago my "reply" button problem was resolved. Thanks again for all your efforts.

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

One forum is less confusing as all ZX14's have essentially the same platform. Their similarities are far greater than their differences.

I post to the Triumph Sprint forum and there have been several versions of the bike in the past decade or so ( 955, 1050, RS, ST, and GT ) and it has not been an issue having one combined forum. In fact, it adds greatly to the knowledge base.

Stating the year and/or model of the bike when posting allows everyone to know what version is being discussed and I'm interested in them all.

Tom

NO please keep it the way it is......the 14r is the NEW Technology in the ZX14, so many changes in performance, engine, and amenities, these are TWO different bikes. Lots of parts do not interchange between the two...some do, so I think most members will NOT differentiate when posting questions or comments and confuse everyone as to which ZX14 they are speaking about....

Keep it simple stupid.....let it stay the same, don't have to reinvent the wheel it works find now...please let it be!
