New zx

Have been lurking and admiring zx14's for a while but now have a just broke in 2008 se. Had only 2,922 miles as of 3 days ago. Was at the local motorcycle shop getting heated grips for my Yamaha stratoliner and there she was just waiting for me. Love this bike (except the seat), it accelerates like no bike I have owned. Mostly have owned cruisers did have a triumph rocket 3. Owned a Yamaha fjr that was pretty quick but this bike hits a lot harder. Bike has no accessories except bar end sliders I believe, there are some marks on left fairing where it was dropped. I ordered frame sliders to address that. Very happy and feel fortunate to have this bike.

Very nice! I have one exactly like that except when I bought mine a year ago as the THIRD owner it had only 2100 miles! I also had issues with the seat and got a Concours 14 seat for cheap and it helped me a lot. It's a bit taller and has more cushion. No mods needed, snaps right on. I also added a set of Heli-Bar risers, helped me also.

Welcome!

Welcome to the club! Awesome find, in some ways I'm confused people by these and ride them so little. About the only thing I can think is they broke them in, opened them up and realized they were a lot more bike than they thought becoming kind of scared to ride it?

Not this cat, looking forward to years of riding! I bought mine June 14th and have more miles than JWH's bike did when he bought it (2399 as of yesterday).

I find the factory seat pretty comfortable myself, but have seen others complain about it too.

Vic,

I'm with you. I just don't understand it but finding "used" very LOW mileage bikes is not restricted to ZX-14s by any means. I think too many folks buy a bike on a whim and then find they just have no time or inclination to ride it. I look for reasons to ride and then if I can't think of one, I ride just for the heck of it. The riding season here in Indiana is WAY too short especially when we have winters like the last one. Of course I can't complain too much, for the 2 or 3 winters before the last one, I was able to ride at least once every month of the year.

But finding like-new used bikes is a good thing in my opinion as someone else gets to pay for that initial depreciation and I can pickup a virtually new bike for $0.30 on the dollar or even less! Since I have a serious motorcycle addiction I just can't afford new ones and keep the variety I've come to enjoy. So used "bargains" it is...

My problem with the ZX-14 is that it's just way too much fun!

Quick and easy to try. You might even check around and see if someone close to you has one you can try out. By the way, the ZX-14 seat fit on the C14 as well, I like the look but it's like sitting on a 2x6 for me:

Yep that's great. I tend to buy new, but then I'm not an impulse buyer. I got a good deal on this, it was a left over so it was marked down about 3k. Most purchases I make are planned decisions now, when I was younger I realized how much money I wasted on really stupid shit. Vehicles are a lot like a stock going down. You really only incur the loss if you sale when it's down. Or as you're saying, the biggest hits in depreciation are the first couple years. I plan to keep this bike for at least 5 years if not much longer, with enough time the purchase price of items nearly become irrelevant.

Have fun out there on the roads. Be careful I was riding this morning labor day weekend the caged idiots are raging. Had 3 weird situations which things weren't the most desirable (just people not paying attention and shit).
