Whoops!
09/08/16 2:22 PM

So, there I was, once again changing a rear tire because this frigging bike eats them like Skittles.
So, I placed a 2 by 4 down. Lifted the wheel onto it, put the caliper hanger in place, (after spreading the pads), made sure all the spacers were present and.......

...everything lined right up and the axle slipped right in.
WHAT DID I DO WRONG???? Last time I fought and cussed and cried forever to do the same job!
Oh I'm such a FAILURE!!!!

ALmost looking forward to doing it again next time. Prolly in 3 weeks!

I thoink that was probably a once in a lifetime event. hope you enjoyed it. I use telephone boooks under the tire when I remove and leave them open to the same page for when i put the wheel back on. helps but you usually have to open about 1/4" of pages to accommodate the new tire. Eyball the axle hole in the wheel to the axle slot. Then lift and tilt left and right until the axle pushes through. It's never perfect but the phone book trick helps immensely.

I use a 2x4 with a roof shingle for exact placement, but I like the phone book deal ..

I have a centerstand, a bike rack, 2 tiedowns on each side of the back of the bike. I ratchet the lever so the strap curls in that circle. This loads the back wheel against the rack's platform. Meanwhile, I'm pushing the axle to the point of the axle floating in the swing, adjusters, bearings, then with two fingers she slips right out of the back wheel.

The collars/spacing can't pitch sideways and cause crying. The rear wheel is stable and in a static setting that no tear is drawn, just the axle drawn forever from the wheel...

I did not realize that anyone else had and issue... I thought I was the only person that actually wanted to kick it over on its side after a through cussing and sweat rolling off me... I was totally unprepared for a rear tire change on the ZX... It is by far the most difficult motorcycle tire I had ever changed... And it is HEAVY

Next time I will be prepared and hopefully learn from my stupid mistakes and learn something from being on this board...

I'll video my setup. I'll have Cody [meat puppet] push the axle out as I ratchet the sweet spot. Or, take a mallet and whack the end, hear the axle fall on the garage floor.

You might say Cody is your right-hand-man.
