I've been working hard to switch over to living a daytime life when I'm off of work. I don't have a problem working at night but when the weekend comes, I have three days of low motivation to do anything. I finally got my brand new bike together and got out for a ride today. Nothing special, a couple rides around the lake and a shorty twisties ride to the interstate. I mostly did the speed limit, one large throttle sprint for a few seconds and I decelerated from a hundred. One quick climb to 7000 rpm in first gear. Must have been in the nineties today. Perfect day to go fast around the noon hour. The animals retreat into the woods for the most part. I played it cool though. I saw just one cop who caught up to me because I was going under the speed limit.
I saw a BMW S1000rr for sale out by the lake. No price, just a phone number with area code from the Milwaukee area. It's the 2009-14 white, blue and red first gen with the shark gills on the right and the asymmetric eyeballs. Akrapovic exhaust. Looks like the bike has some use. I noticed a flattened spot on the rear rotor like the bike rolled into something hard and hit the rotor. There's a clear sheet of vinyl as a tank protector that has a film of dirt around it. The chain looks dirty. It does have new tires. The bike is not spotlessly clean like someone may be riding it or maybe they just leave it out in all weather while it's up for sale. LOL I noticed a thread of spider web across the underside of the windscreen. It's a cool bike, one I always wanted. I like the later years even better but this one was from a time in my life when I really had a deep intrigue with that bike. ...and there's no arguing, they made it weird looking on purpose because they knew it was going to revolutionize the world of liter bikes. It's always going to be a unique bike whether it becomes a collectors item or not. I think I'll take a drive over there again and look it over real hard. Maybe I'll call the owner. I might take it for 6-7 thousand. I might go eight if it looked like it was kept in pristine condition. Chances are, I'm about the only guy in town that has an interest in sport bikes and can afford a bike like this. The only guys you see on sport bikes around here are under 25 years old and not too many of them. If the seller is from the Milwaukee area, I wonder why he's not selling it down there? College kid maybe?
