I need to replace the right side center fairing on my '11 zx14 (the cowling that holds the foreman grill)

but I dont know if the 2006 and 2011 are the same black... Does anyone know?

You are probably thinking of the 08 midnight sapphire blue which has very large blue metal flakes in it. I believe the 06 black had small green flakes in it. If you check ColorRight, and find the paint name to be the same between both years, the OEM paint must also be the same between the years.

i have an 08 and have seen 06-07s up close. It seems to me the fuel tank cover is shaped a little sharper on the 06-07. There may have been some very slight changes in the design of the fairings between 06-07 to 08-11. To be on the safe side, I'd get a definite recommendation that all fairings are interchangeable between all years of Gen1 before buying one that is not for your year.

Ill check the link rook....BTW, the 06 part number is the same as the 09 monster energy version. I would think that would elimate the possibilty of design changes between those years

edit...colorrite suggests the same paint code for 2006 and 2011 as being 602/H8 ebony black.

Guess that means the same. But I have a feeling that if i order the 2006 cowl it will be discontinued lol. Lets see what partzilla says

Sounds to me like you are safe to order the 06. Same part#?? You can't top wrong. SHHHHHH!!! don't tell partzilla.. LOL I won't say anything but I'll tell you, I believe I had the exact same situation come up where partzilla's price was lower on an older part and they did detect it and I had to pay the current price. It was a very inexpensive part, too. Good luck on this one.

Had generally good luck with Partzilla. There was a problem ordering the right engine sealant but that eventually got figured out.

Good luck. If you want good faiings, stay away from used Ebay stuff. I just bought a forman for $40 and of course it has more than just "normal wear". Cleaned it up nice and there are obvious stress cracks in the paint from an impact and the edge of the fin has the paint chipped off in the same place. Also deep clear coat abrasions where they tried to rub it out. LH side, I'm sure it was from a drpped '08. It is very hard to detect paint damage on black fairings if they are dirty. Coulda got a brand new one for $30 more but instead I will be spending hours experimenting with recoating this one.

FYI, part is on the bike and its the same exact part/paint. Only thing is the cowl didnt come with the foam for the inside of the cowl and any grommets. No big deal, I just used a razor and re-used the same foam
